DuPage Circuit Court judge pulled from bench after gun incident

On Monday, Oct. 16, the Independent learned that a DuPage County circuit court judge from Wheaton had been stripped of his bench duties after a gun reportedly discharged in his home in mid-September. Patrick O’Shea, 67, of the 200 block of E. Willow Road in Wheaton, was arrested on a warrant for reckless conduct based on an incident that officials said happened on Sept. 15, when a loaded gun discharged within his residence. Upon his arrest, officials entered his home and reportedly found and seized more guns. Deputy Police Chief William Murphy who investigated the incident reported that officials believe O’Shea was alone in his residence when the incident took place. Despite it occurring on Sept. 15, the shooting was not reported to law enforcement until Sept. 24. O’Shea is free after posting bail in the amount of $5,000. His first court appearance is set for Nov. 15. DuPage Chief Judge Kathryn Creswell reported that the Executive Committee of the DuPage Circuit Court made the decision to strip O’Shea of his duties after he was
