Shanklin to be inducted into Civic Hall of Fame Will be honored at Friday evening’s Chamber awards gala

Local businessman, community volunteer and military veteran William R. “Bill” Shanklin will be honored as the 2019 inductee into the exclusive Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry Civic Hall of Fame. Shanklin will become the Hall of Fame’s 28th member during the induction ceremony at the Chamber’s

Quigley, ECCI president and CEO. “He impressed me from the get go with his drive, determination and

work ethic, and my respect for him has only deepened since then. “Bill’s military background affords a unique mix of skills that allows him to either take on a leadership role or serve as an integral member of a team.” Elmhurst Mayor Steve Morley, always an admirer of Shanklin, had this to say about his induction into

the Civic Hall of Fame: “Bill Shanklin does an outstanding job in serving his community and has proven to be an asset to the City of Elmhurst. Commissioner Shanklin gives countless volunteer hours to the Economic Development Commission, the Veterans Memorial Commission and the Board of Trustees for the Elmhurst Public Library,

among many other volunteer positions. “I am proud to know and support the acknowledgement of Bill, who consistently surpasses his civic duties and is a reliable and hardworking resource for our community.” Shanklin has served Champion
