Ribbon-cutting ceremony held for COVID-19 Community Testing Center On Tuesday, Aug. 4, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for a new COVID-19 mobile testing center at St. Alexis Catholic Church, 400 W. Wood Avenue, in Bensenville. The testing center offers COVID-19 testing by appointment only on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Individuals will be assessed by a VNA Doctor or Nurse Practitioner prior to COVID-19 testing during the same appointment. Speakers included Village Manager Evan K. Summers, Illinois Senate President Don Harmon, and VNA Health Care President & CEO Linnea Windel. Bensenville Village President Frank DeSimone was onhand as well. “To Bensenville, the VNA, the school district, father and the parish, thank you for coming together the way a community should in the face of such difficulty,” said Senator Harmon. “Let’s make this work. Everyone keep their mask on, wash your hands, and keep your distance.” “Ensuring that our residents have easy access to testing close to home is a crucial part of the fight against COVID-19,” said DeSimone. “We have been advocating for this for a while now and I’m glad to have this site up and running. Special thanks to Christy Poli with School District 2 for her tireless efforts on this project and to VNA Health Care for providing this vital service to our community.” The testing center came about after the need for easier access to COVID-19 testing in the community was recognized by several Bensenville taxing bodies. Working collaboratively, School District 2 and the Village of Bensenville partnered with St. Alexis Church and VNA Health Care to make this testing center available to Bensenville and the surrounding communities.

“VNA was founded over 100 years ago in the midst of the Spanish Flu Pandemic,” said Linnea Windel, president & CEO of VNA Health Care. “We are glad to be working with the community to get through the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing testing services to Bensenville

in partnership with the Village of Bensenville, Bensenville School District 2 and other community partners and with special thanks to St. Alexis Catholic Church for making their location available. “VNA also delivers primary care services in Health Centers in Bensen-
