Bo Jackson of MLB, NFL fame visits Bensenville Groundbreaking held for his Elite Sports Facility
On Thursday, July 18, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility being constructed at Grand Avenue and County Line Road in Bensenville. This event celebrated the official start of construction on the 114,140-square-foot air supported indoor sports training center. It will be the third Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility in the U.S. and the second in Illinois. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019. The facility is designed to accommodate training for turf sports like baseball, soccer, football, and lacrosse. The facility will also include a track, weight room, and a climbing wall while also providing a number of year round training opportunities and programs by their professional staff. During the ceremony, sports legend Vincent “Bo” Jackson and Village President Frank DeSimone addressed stakeholders, Village officials, and Village Staff by thanking them and expressing their excitement for the project. “This facility serves as a fantastic addition to the existing amateur sports related assets we have in Bensenville like the Edge Ice Arenas and the Redmond Recreational Complex,” said Village President Frank DeSimone. “Being a baseball travel dad myself, having a facility where I can send my son to learn from these professionals SUBMITTED PHOTO Bensenville Independent speaks volumes.
