Bond denied for parolee charged with robbing Speedway, 7-Eleven at gunpoint
On Wednesday, June 23, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin, Downers Grove Chief of Police Shanon Gillette and Oakbrook Terrace Chief of Police Casey Calvello announced that bond had been denied for a man currently on parole for an armed robbery out of Cook County accused of robbing several hundred dollars from two DuPage County businesses. Robert Howard, 27, of the 1100 block of N. Oakley Court, Westmont, appeared at a bond hearing, where Judge Daniel Guerin denied bond. Johnson has been charged with two counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm (Class X Felony) and two counts of Unlawful Use or Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony). At approximately 2:42 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, officers with the Downers Grove Police Department responded to the Speedway gas station located at 5004 Fairview Avenue for an armed robbery that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers and detectives searched the area and were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the alleged offender provided by the store clerk. Fenton to honor vets, first responders on anniversary of 9/11
Coach Matthew Lynch and the Fenton football team plan to honor first responders, veterans and Americans who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in a ceremony that will take place prior to Fenton’s home football game against East Aurora High School on Friday, Sept. 10. Fenton invites to the ceremony all active duty service members, veterans and first responders (or their surviving family members) who reside in, grew up in, or work in Bensenville/Wood Dale.
