Elmhurst man charged with hate crime Allegedly spraypainted swastikas on others’ property
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Elmhurst Interim Chief of Police Michael McLean announced last week that an Elmhurst man has Joel Jexie been charged with spray-painting swastikas on the homes and vehicles of several Elmhurst residences. Joel Jexie, 25, appeared at a bond hearing where Judge Michael Reidy set bond at $100,000 with 10 percent to apply. Jexie has been charged with three counts of hate crime, a Class 4 felony and one count(s) of criminal damage to property, a Class 4 felony. On July 9, the Elmhurst Police Department received a call regarding vandalism that occurred on Oak Street. Upon their arrival, officers observed swastikas painted on two garage doors of the home as well as on a Lexus ES 350. Three days later, on July 12, Elmhurst police officers received another call regarding a swastika that was spray-painted on a VW Atlas located on Crockett Avenue. Through the course of their investigation into the matter, officers were not only able to identify Jexie as a suspect in the

‘Music in the Park’ kicks off season
Chicago Tribute Anthology, a tribute to the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Chicago, opened the 2022 Bensenville Music in the Park summer concert series last week. The summer concert series, presented by Village President Frank DeSimone and the village board, is held in downtown Bensenville every Wednesday evening through Aug. 31 starting at 7:30. Bensenville restaurants will sell dinner and dessert items so families can enjoy a meal prior to each concert. Preceding the concert each week is classic car cruise nights which starts at 6 p.m. This week’s concert featured Everett Dean & the Lonesome Hearts, which performs a musical tribute to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash.
