On Tuesday, March 24, Village President Frank DeSimone signed a State of Emergency Declaration in direct response to COVID-19. Signing and executing this declaration is meant to mitigate effects of COVID-19 in Bensenville. Declaring a State of Emergency in Bensenville allows immediate action to be taken in an event that the Village Board does not have the ability to meet to approve emergency operating procedures. This also acts as the first step in allowing the Village to be reimbursed by the Federal Government for related expenses. DeSimone addressed the residents and Bensenville businesses. “As a Bensenville resident for many years, I can tell you that the people of Bensenville do not give up easily,” he said. “In times of good or bad, our community has always stepped up and supported one another in a time of need.” He also encouraged residents to contact loved ones. “Although we may be forced to stay home and to distance ourselves from others, I challenge you to reach out to your family and friends during this time by calling or video conferencing with them,” DeSimone said. “I am confident that through continued communication with one another, we will get through this.”
Laird Plastics began to repurpose materials it already had on-hand in its warehouse. When one of its product managers spoke to a friend at Rush University Medical Center, the company was able to obtain a large order
