Village of Bensenville provides operations update

Notice to readers of the Bensenville Independent

The Bensenville Independent, the Villa Park Review, the Elmhurst Independent, along with all other newspapers published by Rock Valley Publishing, will continue publishing under the usual schedule in both print and digital formats. The print version will be published Thursday as usual with newsstand copies available Thursday afternoons and mail home delivery arriving Thursday. The online print version is also available at no charge at TheIndependentNewspapers. com and is posted Thursday afternoons. Our offices in Elmhurst and Lombard are closed for walk-in traffic during the stay-at-home order for the State of Illinois. After discussions with the Bensenville taxing districts and guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health, the Village is taking the following preventative actions to help minimize the spread of COVID-19: • Postponing the Village’s public social and recreational events. This includes our April 4th Easter Bunny Meet & Greet, monthly Senior Luncheons, and our March 26th Neighborhood Watch Meeting. Please monitor the Village website for additional changes to our events or programs. 
 • Implementation of social distancing strategies, such as maintaining physical distance and avoiding physical contact with others. 
 • Encouraging residents to mail in payments or utilize our online payment options by waiving all fees. 
 • The Bensenville Theatre will be closed until further notice. 
 • The Edge Ice Arenas and Waters Edge programing will also be postponed until 
further notice. 
 • Scheduling meetings over the phone whenever possible. 
 • General inquiries can be made by calling Village Hall at (630) 766-8200.

Reminders to take precautions, listen to experts 
The Village will be following direction from state and local health officials - including regularly cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and equipment in our buildings, encouraging frequent hand-washing amongst staff and patrons, and making CDC COVID-19 informational resources available online.
 The Village would like to remind residents of how important it is to know the symptoms of this virus and to take the appropriate steps to staying healthy. You are strongly encouraged to practice social distancing by increasing physical distance from others and

to staying home whenever possible. Please remember to also disinfect frequently touched surfaces, wash your hands, avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth, stay home when you are sick, and cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue. Symptoms of COVID-19 include shortness of breath, cough, and a fever. If you believe you are developing symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your health care provider. tline at 1-800-889-3931. Please be assured that the Village is committed to providing reliable, clean fresh tap water to drink, bath and to flush your toilet. Weekly garbage pickups will not be impacted. Emergency services such as police, fire, and ambulance services for medical emergencies will remain available 24-7.
