Illinois Senate votes to overturn Governor’s veto of MAP grants SPRINGFIELD — On Wednesday, March 2, Sen. Don Harmon (D-Oak Park) joined other members of the Illinois Senate on March 2 in voting to override the governor’s veto of legislation that would provide college tuition assistance through the Illinois Monetary Award Program. “Today, members of the Senate struck a blow for college students all over the state,” said Sen. Don Harmon (D-Oak Park). “These students and their families find themselves caught in the middle of a budget stalemate that is causing Illinois’ higher education network to unravel. “Our message today is clear: these students have not been forgotten, and they deserve a chance to continue pursuing their education with the state’s help as promised. Overriding the governor’s veto of MAP grant funding was the right thing to do for the state of Illinois, for its people and for its economy.” More than 130,000 middle-

Easter Eggstravaganza is coming to Bensenville When: Saturday, March 19 Where: Varble Park, 1000 W. Wood Street Time: Ages 2-4, 9:45-10:25 a.m. Ages 5-7, 10:30-11 a.m.

Come to Varble Park for Bensenville Park District’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19. The eggs will be hidden by the Easter Bunny and he will start the hunt by having all the children line up along the ribbon. Each child will be allowed to find 10 eggs. There will be 3 golden eggs added to the hunt and 3 lucky kids will win a basket filled with toys. Children will be able to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and play games: ring toss, buckets, guess how many, prize wheel and more. Make sure to bring a camera, or you can purchase an instant print for $2. The egg hunt will be held outside, so dress accordingly to weather, and make sure to bring a basket or bag to hold your eggs. Children must be pre-registered at Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood St. to participate; fee is $3 per child. Day of event registrations will be taken.
