Bensenville ‘Blues’ teams take first at tourney
The Chicago Blues Hockey Club recently celebrated a successful weekend as two of their teams finished in first place at the Central States Developmental Hockey League (CSDHL) 2020 playoff championships. The Chicago Blues Hockey Club call the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville their home rink. The Chicago Blues 11U beat the 4th ranked team in the nation by a score of 6-0 to advance to the Central States Championship game where they won by a score of 5-1 to claim the title. The Blues 11-and-under team is currently ranked 5th nationally and is led by Village of Bensenville Director of Recreation Todd Finner. Additionally, Bensenville resident and former U.S. Olympic hockey player Chris Imes led his 14U team to the coveted championship. In the largest upset story of the season, the 7th seeded Chicago Blues 14-and-under team defeated the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th seeds to claim the championship title. Registration for Bensenville’s Chicago Blues 2020 Spring Developmental Program is currently open and concludes March 8. For more information, visit: chicagoblueshockey.org.
