With the recent opening of Illinois Route 390 this past November, development throughout the Thorndale Corridor has brought nearly 20 new businesses to Wood Dale and more are expected soon thanks to the ease of accessibility provided by the new tollway. A full-access interchange located at Wood Dale Road provides both patrons and workers ease of access to the Wood Dale community from Chicago and the western suburbs. “Wood Dale is ever-expanding,” said Ed Cage, Community Development Director for the City of Wood Dale. “We’re pleased with the new opportunities the Thorndale Corridor expansion has provided for the community and look forward to seeing the City grow and thrive as a result.” Thanks to this expansion, the thriving City is preparing to take its place as a business hub within the western suburbs. In addition to larger-scale operations such as Amazon Fresh and American River Group, which have recently found homes in Wood Dale, smaller, more resident-focused businesses including pharmacies, stores and restaurants have also opened their doors and seen benefits from the increase in visitors. One such business, Woody’s Sports Bar, held its grand opening on Jan. 4. “The feedback from the community has been great,” said General Manager Jason Sounhein. “They tell us we really needed this type of place in Wood Dale.” Woody’s offers drinks, an extensive food menu, special events and live music. With over 20 five-star reviews on social media, the community has already embraced the establishment. Steps away, Randall Residence Assisted Living & Memory Care, a six-story, 171-unit senior and assisted living center is also preparing to open this coming spring, and with it comes a host of job opportunities for the community.
