Bensenville celebrates festive holiday train event DeSimone accepts $10,000 for local food pantry

The Village of Bensenville was once again filled with holiday cheer on Saturday, Nov. 25, as the CPKC 25th Anniversary Holiday Train made its annual stop in downtown Bensenville. The festive event, held along Metra’s Milwaukee District North rail line featured live performances by musical artists Kiesza and Seaforth on the specially designed train car stage. Graciously, Village President

Frank DeSimone accepted a generous $10,000 donation on behalf of the Bensenville-Wood Dale Food Pantry. This significant contribution will play a crucial role in restocking the food pantry, which has experienced increased demand due to rising food prices. The Holiday Train event drew a crowd, with more than 3,000 people in attendance. Notably, attendees traveled from out of state, in-

cluding Wisconsin and Indiana, to be part of this special occasion. The Bensenville-Wood Dale Food Pantry also received walk-up donations from residents and visitors, further showcasing the spirit of generosity and unity. “We are immensely grateful to the Holiday Train for bringing the joy of the holiday season to

Bensenville and for their generous donation to our food pantry,” said Village President DeSimone. “This event not only provided a memorable experience for our community but also contributed to a meaningful cause, helping us support those in need.” The Village of Bensenville expresses its appreciation to the

railroad, Kiesza, Seaforth, and all attendees for making this annual holiday event a resounding success. The Bensenville Park District postponed its Farmside Christmas from Sunday, Dec. 3 to this coming Saturday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fischer Farm, 16W680 Old Grand Avenue, Bensenville. The change was made due to inclement weather. New in 2023 is Subie’s Holiday Workshop, sponsored by Grand Subaru, where attendees can work on holiday crafts and children can enter the holiday coloring contest. Two prize packages will be award-

ed. Grand Subaru is also giving away a commemorative holiday ornament to families while supplies last. Visitors will be able to get into the holiday spirit with festive music and other activities and attractions that include horse and wagon rides and the live farm animals before warming up around a bonfire with hot chocolate and treats. Santa will be on hand to greet patrons in the Granary Barn, where

patrons can get their pictures taken. Visit Mrs. Claus inside the farm house and pick up a cookie, check out the dining room Christmas train display and visit the gift shop for additional holiday purchases.
