lice Departments led to Andrews and the juvenile who were both taken into custody on Dec. 5. “Yet again we see four men allegedly traveling to DuPage County intent on committing a crime,” Berlin said. “And yet again, law enforcement’s swift response resulted in the apprehension and charging of two of the suspects. I am confident as this investigation continues we will charge the remaining suspects in this case. I would like to thank the Elmhurst and Bensenville Police Departments for their work in identifying and apprehending the two suspects in this case.” “I am extremely pleased with the work and cooperative effort displayed by all the agencies involved,” Ruth said. “It is because of their efforts we were able to charge these two defendants.” The investigation into the matter continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the Elmhurst Police Department at (630) 530-3050. Andrews’ next court appearance is scheduled for January 2, 2019, for arraignment. The juvenile’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 10, 2018. Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendants’ guilt.

Bensenville resident Nicholas Rios, 20, had a great time at this year’s Special Kids Day Christmas party held in Elmhurst on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Kids took their photo with Santa (and decorated the frame), had their face painted and enjoyed presents, cookies and music. “This is the happiest he has been in months,” said Nicholas’ father.

Shiayon Andrews, 18, of Harvey, and an unnamed juvenile appeared in court, where Judge George Bakalis set bond at $75,000 with 10% to apply for Andrews and Judge Michael Wolfe ordered that the juvenile be detained. The identities of two other men who are allegedly involved is presently unknown. Andrews and the juvenile have each been charged with two counts of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and two counts of Theft (Class 3 Felony.) It is alleged that at approximately 11:51 a.m. on Dec. 3, the four men entered the Bensenville store located at 1137 So. York Road and stole multiple iPads and iPhones and left the store. It is alleged that approximately ten minutes later the same four men entered the Elmhurst store located at 624 N. York Road, where they stole iPads and iPhones and then left the store.
