Stormwater Management Committee Chairman Jim Zay. “The project exemplifies intergovernmental cooperation, and it’s an added bonus to receive the ISASCE award. We are so honored to be recognized.” Completed in 2019, DuPage County Stormwater Management and the Village of Bensenville constructed the Redmond Reservoir Expansion Project to provide flooding relief to a large portion of the Village. This project expanded

the existing reservoir by an additional seven million gallons and provided mechanical and electrical upgrades to improve the existing pump station. This project also enhanced recreational use of the reservoir by improving the walking path around it, as well as incorporating habitat enhancement and water quality features, such as shoreline stabilization and native plantings. Village of Bensenville President Frank DeSimone stressed the

importance of the project’s many benefits. “The result of this project is millions of gallons of additional flood storage, an enhanced natural habitat for many species and recreational opportunities for visitors,” said DeSimone. “It will have a positive impact on residents and their quality of life for years to come.” The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provided grant funding for the $2.75 million project.
