Bensenville Police investigate fatal hit and run crash BENSENVILLE — The Bensenville Police Department with the assistance of the Du Page County Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating a fatal hit and run crash that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on October 23, 2015. A gray extended cab Ford pickup truck was making a right turn from the Dunkin’ Donuts exit on the south side of the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking west on the sidewalk in front of the truck. The vehicle continued east on Irving Park Road without stopping. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. The Bensenville Fire Protection District transported her to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where she was pronounced dead. The pedestrian has been identified as Modesta De La Rosa, 86 years old, of 1094 W. Irving Park Road in Bensenville. On October 24, at about 7:15 a.m., investigators observed a vehicle matching the description of the offending vehicle at the Dunkin’ Donuts where the incident had occurred. Celebrate Halloween dressed up in your best costume at the Bensenville Park District’s Deer Grove Leisure Center on Thursday, October 29, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be a costume contest for the kids and adults where attendees can win great prizes. The event features games, music, concessions and raffle drawings. A $2 admission at the door will allow access to all the games, and a chance to join in drawings and contests. The entire gym will be decorated with spooky goblins, spiders, ghosts and more. This event is for all ages.
