Victim allegedly shot five times because suspect said he ‘felt disrespected’
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick have announced that Judge George Ford granted the Kevin Krenc state’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a Bensenville man accused in the shooting death of Des Plaines resident Victor Garcia. Kevin Krenc, 31, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder. On Saturday, Oct. 14, deputies
with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4N539 Route 83 after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding an intoxicated man possibly in need of assistance. After making contact with the man, deputies learned of an alleged murder that had occurred earlier that day on Church Road in unincorporated Bensenville. Following an investigation, it is alleged that Krenc, Garcia and several other individuals were at a party at Krenc’s residence on Church Road, celebrating Krenc’s birthday. Woman’s body found near Villa Park Metra station STAFF REPORT
The body of a 69-year-old woman was found near the Villa Park Metra station recently. According to Michael Gillis, Metra’s director of communications, Metra Police received a call from Villa Park Police at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, reporting that a woman had been found unresponsive near the train station. The station is located at 349 N. Ardmore Ave. Gillis stated that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. He said that he did not have any
other details, and that the case remains under investigation. Villa Park Police Chief Michael Rivas also stated that the case is under investigation. He said the Villa Park Police Department is assisting Metra, which is leading the investigation. Rivas noted that the village’s police department posted an Oct. 11 update on social media about the death. That update stated that Villa Park officers responded with Metra Po-

Final weekend to see Wilkes Family Halloween display
Whether it’s grisly ghouls or creepy Pennywise clowns, the Wilkes Family Halloween display has been capturing the imagination of visitors and passers by the entire month of October. Located in downtown Bensenville at the corner of Center Street and Green Street, the annual display will come to life this Friday and Saturday, featuring live actors from 7-10 p.m., weather permitting. Live actors also will be present on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
