The beginning of August means that there are only a couple weeks before students will be returning to the classrooms to begin another year of learning. In Addison School District 4, the school offices are closed in July, but many of the school buildings have been far from quiet. The schools – most notably Indian Trail Junior High - have been filled with people working on a variety of construction projects, facility updates, and maintenance tasks – work that needs to be done when school is not in session. Because of the current status of some of the projects, changes have been made to the Back-to-School office hours and ITJHS schedule pickup days. Please note the following dates and times: All school offices will be open for parents on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. from Aug. 6 through Aug. 15. Indian Trail’s schedule pick-up days have been moved back one week and will be held on Tuesday, Aug 13, Wednesday, Aug 14, and Thursday, Aug. 15 from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. each day. The change in schedule pickup dates is being communicated to middle school families via mail, email, website, Sangha app, and social media. Welcome letters for elementary school families who completed registration in spring will be sent to homes in mid-August. These letters will provide detailed information regarding the start of school procedures, bus routes, breakfast/lunch menus, and classroom placement. The first day of the 2019-20 school year for all ASD4 1st-8th grade students is Tuesday, August 20. This will also be an early dismissal day for students, with 6th-8th graders being dismissed at 11:20am and 1st-5th graders begin dismissed at 12:00pm. The first day of school for kindergarten students is Thursday, August 22. All ASD4 kindergartners attend full day kindergarten. Preschool and Early Childhood students will have their first day of school on Monday, Aug. 26.
