Library awarded Google-sponsored grant to help job seekers
The Addison Public Library was recently awarded a grant to participate in the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills program, an initiative of the American Library Association
(ALA) and the Public Library Association (PLA) that is sponsored by Google’s ‘Grow with Google’ initiative. The goal of the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills program is to

ensure that libraries across the U.S. have ongoing access to tools and resources to help workers grow their skills and participate in the workforce. As part of its participation in the program, the library will be offering a series of programs for job seekers called Getting Addison Back to Work in September, starting with a virtual kick-off event on Thursday, August 13 from 10-11 a.m. “The grant gives us access to a lot of Google programming, as well as the extra funds to pay presenters to offer additional programs for job seekers,” said Business Services Specialist Lesley Cyrier, who applied for the grant. “We know a lot of our community partners that work with job seekers have been strapped
due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we know a lot of jobs have moved to a digital space, so we knew the [Libraries Lead with Digital Grant] would be a perfect fit for the Addison community.” About ‘Getting Addison Back to Work’ The Getting Addison Back to Work series will offer one Google-focused program each week of September, where attendees will learn how to use Google tools to support their job search, as well as library-sponsored programs on other job search topics.
