Restaurant to hire 30 people

Last week, the Addison Independent caught up with Oak Brookbased commercial real estate developer Lee Fry, who is busy with the construction of a new A&W Root Beer restaurant in Addison, which he expects to open by mid-August. “We’re under construction in Addison in the Walmart Supercenter—in the spot that was formerly a Burger King, so we’re right in the middle of everything,” Fry told the Independent. “It’s the second driveway off Rohlwing Road, you have to pass us to get to Sam’s Club.” The site was chosen in part because they wanted to have a drivethrough. “The drive-through is a significant portion of our business,” Fry said. “But it requires more land for ‘stacking’ cars.” The restaurant not only will be in a good location, but will be a tasty option for people planning picnics and parties who need catering. “We will be hiring about 30 people,” Fry said. “We plan to hire local teens and seniors to work in the restaurant so people will recognize the employees and provide a good solid family experience.” Headquartered in Lexington, Ky., the A&W Root Beer company itself is more than 100 years old, founded in 1919.
