DuPage County, SCARCE award Sustainable Design Challenge top prizes Addison Trail High School student earns Best Stormwater Design During a recently monthly meeting, the DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee held a ceremony to honor the students from this year’s 13th annual Sustainable Design Challenge. “It’s an honor for myself, along with other DuPage County Board members, to recognize all of the hard work the students and teachers put into these designs,” said DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee Chairman Jim Zay. “I was thoroughly impressed by all of the projects this year, and especially by those awarded today.” Sponsored by DuPage County Stormwater Management, SCARCE coordinates the annual event, which encourages students to construct building and landscape models using environmental and water-friendly design practices. Local professionals working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields served as judges.

Flavor Frenzy opens on Lake St.
As the weather slowly heats up, Addison will have a new option for cooling down. On Friday, Mayor Richard Veenstra (with scissors) welcomed Flavor Frenzy at 48 W. Lake Street with a ribbon cutting. They will be serving dozens of rotating flavors of ice cream, non-dairy Italian ices, fresh-from-the-oven cookies, coffee, ice cream pies, and ice cream cakes. Flavor Frenzy is open Monday thru Friday from 12 – 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. For more information, visit FlavorFrenzy.net.
