Addison Veterans Circle dedicated on Veterans Day New monument placed at Lake and Addison Road

The monument was relocated from the northeast corner to the new 1.95-acre site in June. The new location allows for easier visitor access, and includes new open space areas, brick paver walkways, benches, lighting, flagpoles, landscaping and irrigation. Also speaking at the event were United States Representatives Delia Ramirez, of the 3rd Congressional District and member of the U.S. House Committee on Veterans Affairs, and 8th District Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. Members of Addison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7446 raised the flags of the branches of the United States Armed Services. Brett Nila, Illinois State Commander of the V.F.W., and Addison V.F.W. Commander Randy Boryscka, raised the American flag and
Prisoner of War flag. Patriotic music for the occasion was performed by the Addison Trail High School “Tempo Tantrums” choral ensemble, who sang the National Anthem and “God Bless America.” A brass quintet led by Northern Illinois University student teacher Elizabeth Vierya performed “Onward Christian Soldiers,” by Arthur Sullivan and arranged by Ruth Zimmerman, and “Armed Forces Tribute,” arranged by Tom Holtz. Addison resident Joe Kalish sang “American Soldier,” by Toby Keith.
