Suspect allegedly crashes car into Westmont residence
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Westmont Chief of Police Jim Gunther have announced that Judge Joshua Dieden released Ronald Neal with conditions a Westmont man accused of crashing his car into an occupied home while attempting to elude police. Ronald Neal, 20, appeared at his First Appearance Court hearing, charged with one count of aggravated fleeing and eluding, a Class 4 felony. On Aug. 10 at approximately 12:16 a.m., an officer with the Westmont Police Department allegedly observed a Honda Element pull out of a parking lot near 59th Street without its headlights on. It is alleged that
the officer shined his spotlight on the Honda, later determined to be driven by Neal, to alert him that his headlights were not on. It is alleged that Neal ignored the officer’s signal and continued driving without his headlights on, at which time the officer made a U-turn and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. It is further alleged that instead of pulling over, Neal continued to drive, running a stop sign, hitting a mailbox and a streetlight before ultimately crashing into an occupied home. No injuries were reported from the occupants of the home. Following an investigation into the crash, Judge Angelo Kapas issued a $150,000 arrest warrant on Aug. 15. Neal was taken into custody without incident last week. Neal’s next court appearance is scheduled Oct. 30 for arraignment in front of Judge Daniel Guerin.
Students from Sister City Triggiano, Italy, to visit Addison Trail High School Special performance during Thursday boys soccer game From Oct. 9 to 17, Addison Trail will host a group of students and adults from Italy as part of the Addison Sister Cities student-exchange program with Triggiano, Italy. An agreement signed in 2003 was to encourage friendship and understanding between Addison and Triggiano. During their visit, the students from Italy will shadow Addison Trail pupils, tour local sights and partici-
pate in fun outings. One special event will be a performance by Gruppo Sbandieratori e Musici del Palio del Niballo di Faenza, Ravenna, Italy (Rione Bianco), which includes flag throwers and musicians. They will be featured during the boys soccer game on Thursday, Oct. 12, which is open to the public. The Addison Trail group will travel to Italy this spring.
