More than 1,200 runners and walkers (above) methodically begin the 21st Annual 5K Run For Freedom at Poplar Avenue and Cunningham Drive in Antioch on Saturday. Will Brewster (inset, left) of Grayslake repeated his 2014 win in the Men’s Division, crossing the finish line in 15 minutes, 31 seconds, 29 seconds better than his time last year. Debbie Davies (inset, right) of Antioch finished first in the Women’s Division with a time of 20:14. Competitive runners, casual walkers, and entire families test their endurance on the USATF-certified course that winds through the village streets. The Run For Freedom supports the “Adopt-A-Package” program which, in turn, supports our overseas troops by sending packages filled with snacks and necessities from home.
