Xen-Do, is a mixture of the Wado-Ryu and the Mu-GenDo karate styles, translating to ‘way of harmony’ and ‘unlimited way’. As a mixture of these styles, Xen-Do is always evolving through new techniques.

Xen-Do martial arts school is run by Dai Master Rafael Nieto, a former student of Meiji Suzuki, who came to the UK to teach Wado-Ryu. Rafeal has been a martial artist since 1975 and holds a wide range of titles under his belt.

He has been an 8 time National Martial Arts Champion, and has been a double winner at both World and European Championships. He has also received the Henry Cooper award in 2012 for the contribution, inspiration and development of young people, something he continues within his Xen-Do teaching.

Along with his son, Anthony Nieto, and a number of other highly qualified and licenced instructors, the Xen-Do Martial Arts School uses a combination of karate, oriental kicking and punching and western boxing. The practice and classes offered are tailor-made to the individual needs of students, developing body strength, increasing fitness levels and teaching self defence. An average class is one hour, though additional classes and class sizes are offered, depending on the student’s physical needs, goals and budget.

Xen-Do Martial Arts School offers a grading system in which students can progress depending on their skill level. With experienced and highly trained instructors, students can progress with the knowledge that they have been trained to one of the highest standards in the world.

Dai Master Rafael believes in the philosophy of ‘fit for life’ and believes that Xen-Do should be incorportated into everyday life for flexibility and strength of mind. Xen-Do is not just a physical discipline but is also spiritual. The ‘fearless way’ philosophy followed by the school ensure that Xen-Do is enjoyable for all.

Rafael uses Xen-Do to teach his young students the values of self confidence and self-discipline. Not only does the practice provide a safe, sociable environment, but also encourages children to overcome their insecurities and shyness.

The Xen-Do Junior and Little Champs Programme not only provides physical fitness for the younger students, but also teaches stranger awareness, how to avoid bullying, road safety and self discipline.
