There will be two classes for Best Photograph – either ‘At Show’ or ‘On Farm’, and this competition is open to all ages. Please post your A6 size only prints to Debbie in good time before the show. Judging of the Best Dressed competitions with separate classes for ladies and gentlemen will be happening throughout the show, but you don’t need to be in your finery for the duration – unless you want to! The Tidy Lines competition will be judged by our two Society Stewards – Sir John Bell and Mr Mike Powley. The Young Handler Competition sponsored by Towergate Farm Insurance will, for the first time, have a section for 11-15 year olds, as well as 16-25 year olds (age on 9th July). Please would you use the entry form at the back of this newsletter – closing date 2nd July. The competition takes place on Wednesday afternoon, and the awards will be made after judging has finished. Please note that if insufficient numbers (min 6) for the older age group this section will not go ahead. FARM WALK On Monday evening there’s the opportunity to relax and get into the Yorkshire swing with a visit to Mike & Tom Powley’s beef herd at Green Hammerton near York. It is a short way from the showground and there will be a coach leaving the showground at 5 pm prompt, to return by 9 pm. As well as looking at the South Devon and South Devon cross cattle, there will be a barbecue sponsored by ABP. Please use the booking form at the back of the newsletter. AWARDS DINNER The Awards Dinner will be held in the Members Pavilion on Tuesday evening, and the South Devon beef has been sourced from Robin Smyth (Sunderlandwick) and is now maturing. It will be a 2-course carvery dinner with a choice of two desserts, followed by coffee, and the price is approximately £17.50 per head. Awards from the judging will be made after dinner. Bookings must be made in advance please. WEDNESDAY SUPPER After all the showing and judging activities end on Wednesday there will be a hot pork roll and drink on offer in the marquee at 7pm. The food is being prepared by a local farm shop so the quality will be good! A charge of £5 per person will be made, and Bob Bostelmann will be the money collector. Please use the booking form if you’d like to come. 6
