SUMMER CLOSE OUTS There were two annual fund-raisers last weekend in Carbondale and they had a lot in common. Cowboy Up and the Aspen Valley Land Trust’s Land Dance celebrate the town’s Western heritage, and proceeds from each go to worthy causes. This year, Access Roaring Fork was the beneficiary of all the food and fun served up at Cowboy Up. The AVLT Land Dance generates funds to place conservation easements on ranches and open space from western Garfield County to Pitkin County. Cowboy Up livened up downtown Carbondale during First Friday on Sept. 6, while the Land Dance spun country swing at the Tybar Ranch south of Carbondale the following night. If you missed either event, mark your calendar for next year because both are sure to return. Photos by Jane Bachrach
