Who We Are: Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) is the region’s community foundation. As a trusted and connected partner, we inspire generous people to invest in a more equitable and vibrant Greater Cincinnati, now and for generations to come. A community foundation, like GCF, is a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people in a region so that those with philanthropic interests can support issues they care about – now or through their estates.

What We Do: Connecting people with purpose, GCF is laser-focused on creating a more racially equitable and vibrant Greater Cincinnati. Importantly, GCF highlights and educates on critical systemic issues that perpetuate inequities to drive community vibrancy for all who live here. Central to our mission as a community foundation, GCF also helps individuals, families and businesses establish charitable funds using a variety of assets and then awards grants from those funds to nonprofits that meet our donors’ charitable goals.

Why We’re Important: We are committed to making ours a more equitable region. GCF works alongside partners to solve Greater Cincinnati’s significant systemic challenges – such as income inequality, educational disparities and the lack of affordable housing – and to educate community members about these issues. As our region’s community foundation, we also harness philanthropic capital to make a lasting difference.

How We Serve the Community: Our primary role is to serve our 8-county region to make it a more equitable home for all of our neighbors. GCF has deep roots and a pulse on the community, coupled with an unbiased focus on driving our region forward. We play a key role in identifying and solving complex community problems through grants, convening, awareness raising, research, advocacy and communication. We serve generous individuals and families by supporting their charitable goals.
