Envision Children

Who We Are: Envision Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission “To provide under-served students with supplemental educational instruction in science, technology, engineering, math, reading and critical thinking that will allow them to excel academically.”

What We Do: Envision Children carries out its mission through the Catch Every Child (CEC) initiative. CEC provides educational programming and tutoring designed help students turn their Ds and Fs to As and Bs on report cards in all subjects and achieve proficiency in reading and math at grade level on standardized tests. The goal is 85% success or better on both metrics within three academic years.

Why We’re Important: Our families have no real options which are both affordable and effective in helping their children to get back on track academically. Envision Children was founded to fill this void in the region. 85% of our students are African American; 11% are Latino. 94% of students come from families with incomes below the Federal Poverty Rate. 86% come from single-parent households. 100% of our students are failing when they start their time at Envision Children.

How We Serve the Community: In Cincinnati, Black and Latino students score 20-30% less than their White peers on standardized tests for reading and math at grade level. Envision Children works with students across the region to improve the academic performance of students of color. Education is key for individuals to be able to support themselves, their families and to make the region a great place for all of us to live and work.

How You Can Help: It’s very simple—Sponsor a scholarship. It costs just under $1,200 to help a child for one academic year. Join our African American Families for Educational Excellence (AFE) giving society. The AFE was born out of the idea that one generation has a direct responsibility to invest in the next generation. AFE dollars (100%) go directly to support a child receiving year-round academic support. Our goal is to find sponsorship for all students in Catch Every Child (638 Students in 2021). Scholarships to the AFE can be made on Envision Children’s website listed above. Click on the AFE Form to join.
