CET
Who We Are: The first licensed educational television station in the nation, CET is the leading provider of education and enrichment in living rooms and classrooms across Southwest Ohio. Our mission is to strengthen the communities we serve through programs and services that inspire and inform, educate and engage, fostering citizenship and culture, the joy of learning and the power of diverse perspectives. CET is a service of Public Media Connect (PMC), a regional public media partnership with ThinkTV in Dayton, that serves more than 3 million people in the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton communities.
What We Do: Our nationally and locally-produced, Emmy awardwinning content, educational resources and digital services provide a forum, a stage and a resource for public awareness and education for learners of all ages. As Greater Cincinnati’s PBS station, CET is the area’s largest classroom, we offer viewers a front row seat to the arts and we are a trusted window to the world, providing multichannel broadcast, cable and online services. We also provide over 100 workshops a year for teachers and daycare providers on a variety of subjects like health, social-emotional learning, STEM, literacy and technology, both in person and virtually.
Why We’re Important: A tested and dedicated resource for parents and educators, CET is also a safe haven for children. Our children’s programs teach academic skills, values and social responsibility, helping children to succeed as learners and citizens. Working collaboratively with community partners, CET’s local productions reflect the interests, needs and rich history of Greater Cincinnati. Through PBS and local programming, CETconnect.org, innovative multimedia curriculum projects, parent workshops and professional development for teachers, CET positively impacts Greater Cincinnati with rich and diverse resources.
How We Serve the Community: While we continued to provide PBS, PBS Kids and local programming, the pandemic gave us an opportunity to use our broadcast, our connection with teachers and our online resources to support our community. We used our air to provide educational materials to at-risk students. We transitioned our educator workshops to help teachers with remote teaching. We rethought our arts programming to showcase local art while local venues were closed. We worked with community leaders to rethink how we could support diversity, equity and inclusion. We look forward to using that experience to serve our community in even bigger, better ways.
How You Can Help: Most of CET's support comes from viewers like you! Becoming a member provides needed funding for programming, educational initiatives and community projects. Membership levels vary and those who donate at least $5 per month receive access to CET Passport (on-demand video for members). Other ways to support include a gift of stock or planned gift to CET. Businesses in Greater Cincinnati support CET through program underwriting and event sponsorship. CET’s Action Auction and Live on CET! events offer an opportunity for individuals and businesses to donate goods and services. Or join CET’s corps of volunteers!
