Every Sophie Conran sofa is meticulously crafted by hand, whether in our family-run workshop in the UK or in North Carolina for our US customers. I am thrilled to introduce you to my Salthrop Sofa. It’s based on a sofa my Dad designed over 40 years ago which was called Burnham. I have updated it with a more contemporary look and added our signature bow ties to the loose cover to make them really easy to change over for cleaning. It has very generous proportions with a wonderfully deep seat and comes with either five scatter cushions, three large and two standard sizes pictured here, or with two large back cushions. You can also choose to have it with a fixed cover if you prefer it.
I bought two of the original Burnham sofas over 40 years ago (I can hardly believe it, but it’s true!) and I still own and totally love them. This sofa is made in exactly the same way by the same company that used to make sofas for my Dad all those years ago. Like all my sofas, this is a piece that will literally last you and your family a lifetime.
Apart from being extremely comfortable, one of the lovely things about this sofa is how two people can cuddle up side by side or be laying either end with room to spare. What’s more, you can have a very good night’s sleep on this sofa, it really does double up as a very comfy sofa bed!

I am absolutely thrilled with my rst range of bespoke sofas and being able to share their beautiful com ness with you all.
I set out to create something really di erent - a totally gorgeous sofa that has the ability to totally transform any room with it’s joyfulness.
My sofas are bespoke, that means each one is made to your own speci cantions and is unique to you. Every sofa is hand made in Derbyshire by a team who used to make sofas for my Dad for many many years, so they feel like family. These highly skilled craftspeople are dedicated to producing truly exceptional quality products.
As a result, there is only ever going to be a limited amount of my sofas available every year.
Mother Nature inspires me every single day with her complete genius in all that she creates for us to feel, see, hear, touch and of course, smell too. Just one glance at these truly extraordinary tulips says it all to me.

Named after my wonderful daughter, my Coco sofa is inviting and very versatile. It’s a truly imeless design that can adapt to whatever style of room you have or feeling you are wanting to create. Whether it’s gorgeously decorative like this one here, or a calm white linen you are looking for, the Coco sofa can wear any cover you choose and be guaranteed to look and feel amazing. We make them im lots of different sizes and configurations, including corner and modular sofas.
There’s no reason to hide the back of these sofas - look how wonderful they are. Every time I look at these lovely bows I feel like somenone’s left a special present that’s been wrapped very carefully for us all to enjoy. The combination of this beautiful Andrew Martin print in the Wild Wood Duck Egg with the Pelham Clementine Velvet is truly scrumptious.
When I feel like a moment to completely unwind and put my feet up and read a book, or chat with a loved one or watch my favourite movie, there’s nothing more luxurious in my mind than being really, really comfortable, nestled deep into one of my sofas.
Our wonderful team put a great deal of love and care into making each one of our sofas. So here are some guidelines to help you look after them. The rst thing to remember is that natural materials perform very di erently from the man-made foam llings that are in most of the sofas you’ll nd today.
Let’s start with the cushions, each one is lled by hand with European Duck Feather. When they are rst lled, the feathers are freshly pressed together and will feel quite rm initially. Over the course of the rst few days and weeks, they will become softer and softer, especially if you take care to plump them in a similar way you would plump a feather pillow. The plumping moves the feathers around, pushing fresh air in between them which makes them even more comfy. Feather cushions that aren’t plumped tend to become lumpy and uncomfortable, so it’s well worth doing.
Remember that sunlight is a very powerful natural bleaching agent. All our fabrics have some in-built resistance to sunlight, but it is almost impossible to create any material that doesn’t fade if left in full sunlight for extended periods of time. Please bear this in mind when positioning your sofa if you are worried about it fading. I actually quite like the look of slightly faded fabrics, they feel more lived in to me.
There’s something so incredibly calming about a room with white sofas. I love the serenity of them so much that they seem to make me relax before I have even sat in them. These are covered in 100% Linen from Designers Guild and the colour is Chalk. It’s machine washable which is perfect for me with the dogs jumping all over them constantly! We’ve got over 40 colours available in this linen, so if you like the look, but would prefer another colour, just take a look at our website to see our full range.
With any busy family home, my sofas get a lot of use, especially it seems, from one of my many dogs who love to spend lazy afternoons lying all over them. They run in from outside, often with very muddy paws and make the leap onto the sofas without a care in the world. All our covers are fully removable and depending on their fabric type, can be either washed or dry cleaned. I nd though, that most muddy marks, if allowed to dry rst, will come o with a soft brush or a light vacuum.
Another thing that high quality sofas traditionally had was springs in the base, and the best sofas still use these springs, so ours naturally have them too. They make a real di erence to how comfortable your sofa is but also, they ensure your sofa has a much longer lifespan.
There’s something very reassuringlly con dent about a red and white stripe and this one really seems to know what enjoying life is all about! I love the red trim detailing as well on the edge of the box cushions. Our box edge cushions are available in all our sofa sizes.
The moment we moved this wonderful red and white striped sofa into my entrance hall the e ect was quite amazing. It honestly felt like it totally belonged there and seemed immediately at home in its surroundings.
Here’s our glorious Dandelion stripe covering a 3.5 seater sofa with knife-edge cushions and cream piping. As you can see, the 3.5 seater features three seat and back cushions. I absolutely love the look and feel of this sofa. it’s so wonderfully generous and of course, extremely comfy too. The only challenge for me at the moment is nding a space in between the four legged members of the family!

We absolutely love our modular sofas. We can make them to any configuration you like. Corner sofas, U shaped sofas, Chaise sofas and any variant you like. We deliver them in sections and bolt them together for you. You can have them with fixed covers as well as loose covers and in any suitable upholstery fabric of your choice.
We have a range of standard sizes for each modular section, but we can make each piece to your exact dimensions. For instance, if you want them to fit in an alcove area or want to maximise the amount of sofa you have along a wall or in annopen plan space, we can make them to whatever size you need. We also offer a free space planning service where we can show you different configurations and how they could work within your space.
Named after my wonderful son, my Felix sofa features the most beautifully elegant lines and proportions from every angle. It has a more structured feeling and therefore works really well in morewhen you are looking to create a more formal look within your room. The sofa featured here has a fixed cover and a solid back, we also make them with two big back cushions and do a loose cover version too.

Our bespoke headboards are each individually hand made in the UK to your exact speci cations. We can make them to any standard UK bed size and are also able to make them to special sizes. You can have them covered in any one of our upholstery fabrics and decide on the colour and type of the piping. They come complete with adjustable legs which can be attached either to the back of your bed base, or screwed directly onto the wall. Please contact us for more details.
All our cushions come lled with European Duck Feather to provide long lasting comfort for you. If you have a need for a particular type of cushion that is di erent from our standard range, then please do speak to us. We can make our cushions to all approved speci cations, so do let us know if you’d like something specially made for you.
We have teamed up with fabrics from Andrew Martin to bring you these wonderful scatter cushions. So if you’d like to add some more cushions to your sofa, this is a great way to do it. Finding a good looking coffee table that’s really elegant and also very practical is quite tricky in my experience which is why I’ve designed these. They can be made to practically any size you like and can be covered in any suitable upholstery fabric.

We have two standard sizes, 192cm x 92cm and 182cm x 82cm. All the covers are loose covers and are extremely easy to change. Each piece is made by hand in Derbyshire by the same craftspeople who make our sofas including a very talented woodturner who individually carves these beautiful American Black Walnut legs. We are also very happy to make these legs in any timber of your choice, including English Oak, Maple and Sycamore. We advise not to sit or stand on the tables as they are not designed to hold excessive weight. Co ee table books and objects are perfectly acceptable however.

All of our sofas are lovingly made by hand in Derbyshire from natural materials.The foundation of any good sofa begins with the frame. Our frames are made from sustainably sourced Birch hardwood which comes from forests in Finland.
The Birch is prepared in our frame making workshop and each joint is put together with wooden dowels, screws and glue. The resulting nished frame is extremely strong and forms a very solid basis from which to commence the upholstery process.
We make our sofas in a very traditional way. Sofas made 100 years ago or so were made with steel springs in the base. Ours follow this tradition and each sofa has a fully sprung base made with specially produced sprung steel. The combination of these springs is the equivalent of having a high quality mattress in the bottom of your sofa and signi cantly adds to both the comfort and the overall durability and longevity of use.
Once the spring unit has been assembled into the frame, the upholstery process begins. We start by covering the springs with a layer of natural jute. On top of the jute we then place a 25 mm thick layer of rubberised natural bres. On top of these bres, we then place a felted cotton wadding layer which in turn is covered by a wool based interliner for re retardancy. This is then nished with a cotton lining which forms the nal layer for your sofa and can be seen when you take o your fabric covers for cleaning.
The traditional nature of the materials that are used in Sophie Conran sofas is such that if you were to open up a sofa that was made around 100 years ago and compare the materials, you would nd them to be almost identical in every way.
Our cushions are hand made in Derbyshire with European Duck feathers to provide you with a truly wonderful level of comfort. As with all brand new feather cushions, when they rst arrive at your home, they will feel quite rm in comparison to how they will soon become within the rst few weeks of use. This change in how they feel is aided by regularly plumping them so that air is able to circulate in between the feathers. It is the combination of air in between feathers that makes a feather based cushion comfortable. You will nd that if you take care of your cushions with regular plumping to ensure that there is a good amount of air within them, that they will provide you with an extremely comfortable sofa for many years.
