Nineteen eighty-ဠve is also remembered for a severe January frost that froze the Arno River in Florence and wiped out a massive number of olive trees throughout Tuscany. At Salvioni, 1,200 old olive trees were lost. "It is the vintage that literally changed the landscape of Tuscany," adds Giulio Salvioni in reference to the loss of so many centuries-old olive trees.
