The Sophia Project

The Sophia Project is the brainchild of film maker Tanya Bunting. She has been working on this project for the better part of five years to finally bring it to fruition with her husband M. Elijah Bunting, Photographer. This project begins with “Beyond Midnight.” These magazines will highlight the beauty of women that are overlooked by mainstream media.

The Sophia Project will go through every complexion to show beauty in its purest form.

KB Media Group is a division of the KB Media Ministry, INC. The Mission of KB Media Ministry is to spread the gospel through Education, Entertainment and the Arts. Our goal is to use media to spread the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Our message is one of love, faith and hope.

SOPHI A The Sophia Project begins with one “Sistah” trying to encourage another. Stephanie encountered our Editor and Chief before she was a film maker and evangelist.

The Sophia Project chronicles the journey from where we start as women to where we end up in God. “‘Sophia, Sophia, such a pretty name”. Not only a line from “‘The Color Purple,” it was a term of endearment towards the then Broken, Tanya Kennedy.

This project is not only the story of uncommon beauty, it is a peak into the journey from broken to blessed, from bondage to free and from rejection to confidence.

Both the Founder and Co-Founder have dedicated over 25 years of volunteer and community service. It is their passion and dedicated commitment to serve the heart of the community, especially those who face hardships. Ms. Nichols, driven by her unyielding advocacy for education, firmly believes that every child deserves an optimal educational plan tailored to their individual requirements. Lolita has spent over 10 years in the Human Services field; working diligently to make a positive impact on the lives of those she serve.

Her passion for this field was ignited when she recognized the disparity in diversity among therapists during her youth. Lolita saw the need for representation in the field and decided to pursue a career as a Master’s level therapist to address this gap. As a therapist, she has dedicated her professional life to advocating for mental health and well-being, particularly within the African diaspora. Lolita firmly believes that it is essential for individuals from diverse backgrounds to see themselves represented in the field of mental health. By doing so, she hopes to inspire and empower others to prioritize their mental health and seek the support they need.

Janaye Brown Janaye has worked in many industries from retail, to media and entertainment. Her favorite industry is the media industry. She has been a Production Assistant since 2016 and has worked on shows for BET, ABC and Georgia Public Broadcasting, to name a few. She is a Playwright and Director with two successful plays under her belt. Regarding her background, She describes her love for entertainment and cameras from a young age: “As a child, staring out the car window, pretending I was in a music video. "Once I got to college, I tried to perfect my on-camera presence as a reporter.”

Her favorite quote is; “There is something about seeing how every small puzzle piece creates a masterpiece. There is beauty in the process!”

Daphania Adams has worked with several celebrities, including Tyler Perry. She is an extraordinary designer and prides herself on her work ethic on her work ethic.

Ms. Adams is also an excellent interior designer with immaculate taste.

I was allowed to spend an hour with her, and her wisdom was not lost on me. We began with small chatter before we got into the interview. ‘ Ms. Adams said, “I am 59, and I have been doing this business for 50 years.”

SPM: When I asked her what she would tell an “up and coming, designer? she said, Ms. Adams responded: “You have to be willing to put in the work. This business is not an overnight thing. It takes time, patience, overnight things. It takes time, patience, dedication, and hard work.”

JAMAR DUNNIGAN Jamar is a Sr. Brand Strategist, Marketing Professional, Author, Mentor, Producer and a former foster child raised in Charleston, West Virginia. Jamar moved to NYC in 2003 and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Advertising and Marketing in 2009.

Jamar lived in HARLEM, NY for 20 years creating lasting memories, relationships and friends in the Arts, Culinary, Culture, Fashion, Hospitality, and Lifestyle Industries. A true connector, Christian, and man about town, Jamar loves people, selling the brand experience, and giving back to the community.

He launched his first non-profit- Take Note (We Care) in 2019 at the High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College. Through his non-profit and communityu partnerships, Jamar hopes to help inspire and motivate young boys, men of color and those aging out of the foster care system to be the best they can be regardless of their past or current situation.

Currently, at age 40 Jamar decided to move back home to Charleston, WV for a mental, physical & spiritual reset.

He rebranded his marketing consulting business and now operates under- DUNN It Again Creative.

A play on words for all the events and experiences Jamar created and produced over the last 25 years.

Like his foster-dad Mr. Smith would say, “Jamar Done DUNN it Again.”

AUTHOR & ADVOCATE ADVOCATE Kesha Nichols Spent 20 years in the legal industry before transitioning into the private sector. At that time, her 8-year old nephew was diagnosed with Autism. She decided to devote the next two years to ensure he had the proper too,s and resources to begin public school. Ms. Nichols became a staple at Browns Mill Elementary school.

The most challenging accomplishments can also be the most rewarding, Ms Kesha remarks that starting her Nonprofit Organization was totally different from having a for-profit business. The filing of documents, the guidelines, the by-laws, developing a board, etc. She says what kept her going was her heart for the community and being able to give a child a glimpse of HOPE is all worth the journey.

Ms. Nichols credits her CoFounder, as being the most an influential person who has impacted her on this journey. It was his encouragement and great support that led her to take that leap of Faith and start THE D.A.Z.E.Y. PROJECT. Kesha remarks with a smile, "As I sometimes rarely like to admit he is one of the smartest minds that I know.

She says, “God has truly blessed him with a brilliant mind in business. I am grateful to be on this journey with him as the Founder and Co-Founder of THE D.A.Z.E.Y. PROJECT. Starting her Non-Profit Organization THE D.A.Z.E.Y.PROJECT was her greatest achievement. Being passionate about education and the well-being of children, was the factor in starting her organization. Tanya BUNTING Tanya Bunting is the Founder and Chief Editor of the Sophia Project. This project is near and dear to her heart. It shows various forms of beauty in women of color first, but indeed, all women. Tanya is the epitome of the Beyond Midnight beauty that is often overlooked.

She has overcome jealousy due to her skin color. She has conquered abandonment because of her dark skin color.

See, before the Iman Abdul-Majid, Naomi Campbell, and Adut Akech models, they were “the Tanyas” enduring opposition, racism, and neglect because of their skin color.

A Models Story

My name is Sha’Dyma White and despite the challenges I faced growing up without my parents, my aunt taught me to set high goals and never give up. I recently started pursuing modeling seriously and have already achieved so much in just a year.

With twelve publications, over forty fashion shows, and three cover pages and act on ten background extra on movies under my belt, I am determined to become the best professional model I can be. I specialize in various types of modeling, including editorial, runway, swimsuit, commercial, fitness, part, print, and glamour modeling.
