Albert Jacka

. Albert Jacka was the first to receive Australia’s Victoria cross of the first world war, He was rewarded this because he had taken advantage of a diversion made by bomb throwers and jumping into a trench killing seven Turkish soldiers retaking the trench, awarding him the Victoria cross. . During Albert Jacka’s time as military personnel, he sustained multiple injuries, once when he killed the seven Turkish soldiers, he was seriously injured in the neck and solider. On 15th March 1917, Albert Jacka was promoted to captain just before getting shot by a sniper’s bullet on 8th July. He went back to war after serving and was then badly gassed during a bombardment which he was demobilized afterwards. Because of albert Jacka’s acts of bravery, he was used in enlistment propaganda during the war.
