Underground Level This design responds to the hot and humid climate in Saigon. The terminal has an atrium at the center of the building to capture the light down to the underground part of the terminal. At the same time, it acts like a chimney to release the hot air and suck the cool air from the underground floors up through the atrium to cool down the upper floors of the terminal. Also, the base of the terminal is mostly glass with vertical louvers which open to allow air to travel through the building in the rainy season and close to keep the heat out in the sunny season.
