This 1954 Uruguayan passport has several interesting features. First, it contains a field entitled "nacionalidad" which is translated into French as "nationalite". The nationality of this Uruguayan legal citizen is listed as Ciudadana Legal Uruguaya. The immigrant to Uruguay was born in Switzerland but her nationality is not listed as Swiss. Second, we can see that Uruguayan passports were still in a format in which they were issued to a husband on behalf of a wife. Nevertheless, the issuer of the passport issued the passport with the woman's name in the husband's field to provide a passport to an unmarried woman.
