This passport, issued in the midst of World War II, included a field for nationality. Even though this Uruguayan naturalized citizen, called a legal citizen, was born in Portugal, his passport indicates that his nationality is "Ciudadano Legal" on an Uruguayan passport. There is no mention that he is of "foreign" nationality, clearly in contradiction to the current policy of Uruguay, adopted by the Partido Nacional and reaffirmed, for reasons unknown, by the Frente Amplio.
