FIRE INCIDENT AT MIDDLE SCHOOL RESULTS IN CHARGES BEING BROUGHT AGAINST TWO JUVENILES ST. MARY’S COUNTY, MD (April 14, 2014) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged two male youths, ages 13 & 14, after an incident involving a fire inside the boys restroom at Esparanza Middle School located at 22790 Maple Road in Lexington Park. The 11:00 a.m. fire was quickly extinguished by the students after they ignited paper combustibles in a urinal and trashcan. Investigators determined the damage was limited to the trash can at an estimated value of $50.00. No injuries were reported during the incident. Both juveniles were charged with 1st Degree Arson and referred to the custody of their parents pending actions by the St. Mary’s County Department of Juvenile services. ###
