MISSION
At Crafts by Solid's Indian handworkshop, Paces Crafts, in Jharkhand, India, we’re all about empowering 60 amazing women from tribal communities with skills like crochet, kantha stitching, sewing, and hand-weaving. But we don’t stop there we’re more than just a workplace! With childcare and social workshops, we’re here to help them tackle life’s challenges and build brighter futures for their families.
At Crafts by Solid, we’re all about keeping the magic of artisanal craftsmanship alive! Our talented artisans — mostly women from rural areas use traditional techniques like hand-weaving, kantha stitching, crochet, and sewing to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind products. No machines here — we’re all about quality, tradition, and a whole lot of soul in everything we make.
MISSION
Hadithi Crafts, in partnership with Crafts by Solid, empowers over 2,000 women in Kenya's Kasigau region amidst challenges like poverty and environmental degradation. Through economic independence and a commitment to environmental conservation, Hadithi Crafts ensures fair income generation while protecting the fragile ecosystem of the Kasigau region.
The unique baskets are made from local sisal, ensuring a 100% handmade process from start to finish. Alternatively also indigenous palm leaves from Kajire (Sagalla Hill) are used to create baskets, known as "mkeka". Our products are dyed using ASO free dyes or pure natural dyes obtained from flowers and bark, employing old techniques that have been passed down through generations.
