CAN YOU TASTE THE WASTE?

ADVERTISING DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPHY, COPYWRITING

With recent studies discovering plastic found in human lungs and blood, this advertising campaign was created to bring awareness to the consumption of microplastics. It was achieved through collecting pieces of plastic from Vancouver’s beaches to form structures resembling food and applying strong imagery into a series of posters.

This was the winning entry of the 2022 RGD Zulu Alpha Kilo advertising design student award.

MILKY SODA

PACKAGE DESIGN, BRAND IDENTITY

While it may sound bizarre, it is not uncommon to combine milk and cream soda served in Hong Kong style cafes. Milkis, Yakult, and Calpico are all creamy soft drinks that are widely popular in asian countries, and a childhood favourite for many.

To differentiate from its competitors and reach a sophisticated Western demographic the minimal and elegant design takes inspiration from our galaxy the milky way, incorporating a planet suspended in space.

PILCROW

EDITORIAL, TYPOGRAPHY, ILLUSTRATION, COPYWRITING

Pilcrow is a magazine that focuses on sharing art and stories by creatives from marginalized communities to bring awareness to global issues through creative expression. Inspired by the typographic pilcrow symbol, which marks the start of a new paragraph, the magazine is all about reflecting on the past and remembering history while uplifiting new voices.

All featured artists were contacted for permission to use their work.

LEVEL UP

ART DIRECTION, PRINT DESIGN, BRAND IDENTITY

The Level Up Digital Design Show is a collaborative student-run event created to display student work. The event showcases the graduating class’ collective journey in a gaming style experience using playful pixel graphics to engage the audience.

Litafi is a black owned business/app that sells books by marginalized authors. Their ideal customer is someone who is proud of their heritage yet curious and respectful about other cultures and the world around them.

The branding should reflect the joy of finding a great book with the goal of promoting books by underrepresented authors.

SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DROIDS

ILLUSTRATION, POSTER DESIGN

The goal was to reimagine Snow White as a science-fictional story and create a movie poster that represents the genre through visual composition. With the original plot in mind, there were many possibilities for a futuristic sci-fi twist on the story by utilizing advanced technology, space, and cyberpunk aesthetics.

Studio Nuvo is a successful student-run and faculty-led design agency that recruits students with a variety of disciplines, backgrounds, and skillsets. This informative brochure was developed by a group of students in order to outline the services and benefits Studio Nuvo offers to new clients.

MYSTICAL TEA SHOP

Mythical Tea Shop envisioned a modernized visual identity that encourages people to try new teas while also teaching them about the history and culture. They are building a brand that fulfills their vision and believe strong package design is an essential part of their branding. This box tea set in particular includes twelve Chinese teas associated with each of the Chinese Zodiac animals to create a fun experience for their customers.

SOLANDIS STUDIO

BRAND IDENTITY, ILLUSTRATION, MERCH DESIGN

Started out as a side project for extra income during the pandemic, Solandis Studio is a small online business on Etsy. They offer a variety of cute and quirky products such as keychains, stickers, tote bags, and original art.

By applying a cohesive design style to the products, Solandis Studio’s branding is very recognizable to customers. Products use eco-friendly materials and packaging when possible and a portion of the profits are donated to charities.

CADO TYPEFACE

This is an original, custom-made font for Solandis Studio’s visual identity. The handwritten design is playful and bubbly, making it one of a kind to the brand.
