A house from the 1960s is complemented by a two-storey expansion. The design premise was to avoid
a blatant and bulky look and instead conserve the existing building as a recognizable1960s structure
encouraging a reciprocal relationship between old and new. In contrast to the white stucco of the 1960s
building the expansion stands out prominently with its red coloured facade cladding.
Massive slabs cut out around the strip windows and frame them, also providing sun protection. On the
ground fl oor both parts of the building converge into an ample, free-fl ow living, dining and kitchen openplan
while the bedrooms are located on the upper level, resulting in a spacious and open house with
more than 200sqm of fl oor area that satisfi es every demand of modern living.
