A recent self study condu ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin Unive versity in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. 2014-15 Season Preview Tiffin University Women’s Basketball team looks to bounce back strong in the 2014-15 camlo ppaign as Coach Pam Oswald’s young team builds ooff the experience gained last season which saw th the Dragons finish 7-19 (4-18 GLIAC). Coach Oswald enters her 8th season as Head Coach of the O Dragons. D On the perimeter the Dragons will again look to floor general sophomore guard Deidre McKay w who averaged 6.5 points per game and 71 total aassists in her freshman season to lead this team. E Experienced returners on the wings for the Dragoons are juniors Jordan Fraley (7.6 ppg, 37 assists), M Macy Byrd (1.1 ppg, 10 assists) and sophomore Kaylee Patton (7.5 ppg, 39 assists). Newcomers K to the squad include junior college transfer, Hannnah Stephenson, who will be looked upon to contr tribute with her quickness and court vision at the ppoint guard position. Sophomore guard Trischa Lacy will look to contribute this season after sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules, while freshman combo guard, Kiley May, will bring a balanced attack from beyond the arc as well as off the dribble. The Dragons will look to their three veteran post players for experience, as well as two freshmen to bring depth to the post position. The Dragons return sophomore post player Bre Nauman who led the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game and also grabbed a team high 6.8 rebounds per contest. Also returning inside for Tiffin will be junior center Jessica Farr (3.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and sophomore Anya Misko (4.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg). Two freshmen that will be relied upon to crash the boards and give a hi-lo presence to the Dragons interior will be Shelby Cheston and Kelsi Ash. Coach Oswald’s staff includes returning and promoted assistant coach Holly Focke in her second season and new assistant coach Stephanie Kelly entering her first season with the Dragons. Both assistants are former players for Coach Oswald. Tiffin opens the season November 20 at home vs. Cedarville University.

Pam Oswald is entering her eighth season as the head coach of the Dragons women’s Pa ba basketball team. In 2012-13, the Dragons went 8-4 at home, their third straight winning season at the Gillmor Center. Oswald has collected 80 wins which ranks her as the third winnningest Gi coach in TU history. co Os Oswald led Tiffin University to a school-record 21-7 record (14-5 GLIAC, second in the GLIAC South) in 2011-12. The Dragons reached a number of firsts as a team during the GL season. TU began the season with the best start in program history with a 5-0 record, se finishing the season with the best record (15-12) since 1995 and also recorded the fewest tu turnovers in a season with 347. The Dragons led the GLIAC in steals per game with 10 per outing and in turnover margin (+7.19), while ranking second in scoring defense. It was also the first season in which Tiffin University defeated Ashland, Findlay, Hillsdale and Northern Michigan since joining the GLIAC.Mandy Jaeb earned her second consecutive First Team All-GLIAC honor while teammates Karli Mast and Jessica Harris were named Second Team selections. During the 2009-10 season Tiffin posted a 7-20 record but proved much more competitive than the previous season, dropping 8 of those games by 9 points or less. The team posted a 4-18 mark in conference play, with most of those close losses coming against GLIAC opponents. In three years as an assistant coach at Wheeling Jesuit University, she helped the Cardinals compile an impressive 67-26 record with two back to back seasons of 20 plus wins. Oswald’s contributions at Wheeling Jesuit saw the Cardinals post their most wins since 1992-93 (27), and advance to the NCAA Tournament twice, a first in the program’s history. They also captured the 2005 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament championship. During the 2005-06 season Oswald stepped in as interim head coach for ten games, racking up an impressive 9-1 record during WVIAC play. Under Oswald’s tutelage six players were selected as All-WVIAC honorees. Prior to joining the Cardinals, Oswald spent three seasons (2001-2004) as an assistant coach at Kent State University. During her time at Kent State she worked with both guards and post players (developing two All-MAC selection post players). While at Kent State the Golden Flashes were the 2002 Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament champions, participating in the NCAA tournament in 2002 & the WNIT in 2004. A native of Berlin, OH Oswald joined the Flashes after spending 2 seasons as an assistant at her alma mater Berlin-Hiland High School, where she helped coach them to a 28-0 record and a Division IV State Championship in 2000. A 1995 graduate of Malone University in Canton, OH, Oswald was inducted into the Malone Athletic Hall of Fame in January of 2006 with a career total of 1,681 points and 1,127 rebounds. Oswald holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications/Broadcast from Malone University. Oswald is also a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Ho Focke is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Tiffin University Holly women’s basketball program. Focke will be assisting in the development of the perimwo eter players, as well as organizing team travel, community service activities and the et academic monitoring of players. ac Fo Focke earned four letters for the Dragons (2009-12). She was a three-time GLIAC All-Academic selection. Focke finished among the top 10 career in assist and was Al well respected for her leadership abilities. we Fo Focke spent the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach at Mount Union. The Purple Raiders went 20-7, their fourth straight 20+ win season. Ra Focke has a B.S. in Management and is working on a Masters. Focke is a member of Fo the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

St Stephanie Kelly is in her first season as a Graduate Assistant for Tiffin Unive versity. Sh She is assisting with perimeter players, monitoring academic progress for the pl players, and is head coach for the Junior Varsity (Club) Basketball program. Ke Kelly played with the Dragons from 2009-13 and was a three-time GLIAC Al All-Academic Team selection while also making the Dean’s list three straight ye years and finishing in the top six in the nation in free throw percentage. Ke Kelly also served as Academic Mentor for Bowling Green State University’s Me Men’s Basketball team in 2013-14 while also assisting with student-athlete services affairs, supervising study tables, and implementing study strategies for the men’s basketball program. Kelly has a B.S. in Management and is working towards her Masters. Kelly is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Tiffin University is a proud member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Tiffin University is the league’s 14th full member and sponsors 19 of the GLIAC’s 21 championship sports. Located on a 110-acre campus in Tiffin, Ohio, Tiffin University was founded in 1888 and is entering its 12th year of NCAA Division II status. Tiffin is the third institution from the state of Ohio to join the GLIAC. Ashland University, located in Ashland, Ohio, joined the league on July 1, 1995. The University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio, began competing in the league on July 1, 1997. Ohio Dominican, in Columbus, Ohio, and Lake Erie College, in Painesville, Ohio, joined in 2010-11, while Walsh University and Malone University in Canton, Ohio have become members during the 2012-13 season and bring the number of Ohio schools in the GLIAC to seven. Notre Dame College of Euclid, Ohio is also an associate member in four sports, including football. The GLIAC’s members in Michigan include: Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, Hillsdale College, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University, Northern Michigan University, Northwood University, Saginaw Valley State University, and Wayne State University.
2015 Tiffin University Shoot Out The Tiffin University Women’s Basketball Program is hosting their eighth annual summer shoot out on June 12-14, 2015. The three-day event is open to any high school girls varsity basketball program looking for competitive games and an overall good experience. Coaches can choose the number of games they would like to play, ranging from 3-6 games in one day, 9 games over two days, or 12 games over three days. To ensure that each team gets the experience that they are looking for, each coach can choose to play against top level, mid level, or lower level competition. You can expect the Tiffin University Shoot Out will be a very well organized event with games starting on time. All games will be officiated by licensed officials. Concession stands and t-shirts sales will be available. The Tiffin University Shoot Out has grown from 24 teams in its first year to as many as 75 teams. Last year’s shootout saw 64 teams from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana compete in over 160 games. Records and History Tiffin University’s women’s basketball program has underwent numerous changes in the 90-plus years that the Dragons have had basketball. The women’s team saw action sporadically during the first two decades of this century, but started to play a regular schedule in 192425, finishing 10-0 that year. The program continued until the close of the 1936-37 season, posting a 54-28-3 record during that stretch. Dragons leaders included Hall of Famer Edith Miller. The program didn’t return for another 48 years. In 1984-85, women’s basketball finally returned to Tiffin University, posting a winning record in its third year after returning (12-11 in 1986-87). In 1990-91, TU won its only Mid-Ohio Conference title, finishing 18-9 that season and setting a season record for wins that was not eclipsed until 2011-12 when the Dragons won 21. The Dragons also currently have seven women’s basketball players in the Tiffin University Hall of Fame - Edith Yambert Miller, Lois Collins Conrad, Tracy AlmansonMurphy, Angie Shardo Nunn, Susan Miller Hughes, Jenny Kane, and Melanie Sears. Angie Nunn is the Dragons’ all-time leading scorer with 1820 points, while Jessica Harris is the leading rebounder with 1005. But this season’s Dragons have many players who could easily change the face of the TU women’s basketball record books before their careers are through.
Lady Dragons Hall of Famer Lois Conrad holds the NAIA record with 28 free throws in a single game. She also is the season record holder in the same category (191).

2014 Dragons in the Community Adopt-a-highway A Every fall and spring, the Tiffin University E Women’s Basketball team goes to their 2 W miles of highway on 224 and continues the m uupkeep of the land. The team keeps Ohio’s rroads attractive and free of litter. In addition tto cleaning roadways in our community, we aare creating a partnership with others, which hhelps to foster civic pride. Northwest Ohio Food Bank N The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, T IInc. is a member of Feeding America, formerly known as America’s Second Harvest, m the largest domestic hunger-relief organizath ttion in the United States. The Women’s team traveled up to Toledo to help stock shelves tr aand organize the entire warehouse for the Food Bank. Read to Elementary kids The team traveled down to Amish Country and read to the kids at Berlin Elementary. The team read to kids from grades K-6 and also discussed their journey from their hometowns to why they decided to go to Tiffin University. It was a real eye-opening experience for some of the players who have never been to Amish Country.

In addition to the main auditorium, the building also contains over 17 offices, shower and locker rooms, a training room, a bookstore, a media conference room, a Student Activities room, the Student Affairs offices, the Channel 10 broadcast center, the Tiffin University Hall of Fame, and Trophy Gallery. A complete renovation of the Gillmor Center was recently completed. The Dining Commons, the Osceola Theater, a student lounge, expanded recreation room, numerous new offices, and expanded parking areas are just a few of the new renovations. The complex nearly tripled in size and has grown to service even more of the Tiffin University community.
Heminger Center The latest addi dition to the campus, the Heminger Center, th features an indoor fe track and field comtr pl plex and a 60x50 yard turf indoor practice tu facility. fa One majo jor portion of the bu building includes an indoor track and four in multi-purpose courts that will be used for basketball, volleyball, and tennis. mu The other large portion has artificial turf and will be used for practices by the Th TU football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and softball teams, in addition to intramurals, club sports and other recreational activities. The middle section of the th facility has coaches’ offices, locker rooms, an athletic training room, two classrooms, cl and a food court.
Physical Fitness Center TU also enjoys using the Tiffin University Physical Fitness Center, yet another recently expanded facility benefiting the student-athlete on TU’s ever-growing campus. The facility, which recently doubled in size, features a cutting-edge weight center that is continually upgraded with new equipment.
