HUNGER
from July 2023
by societylife
CitySquare has a Food Pantry, food recovery program, and brings food to the community youth through mobile meal programs after school and in the summer, in order to remove barriers to accessing healthy food.
Housing
CitySquare is the largest nonprofit provider of affordable housing in the City of Dallas with permanent supportive housing, transitional housing and rapid rehousing units.
Health
CitySquare health and wellness programs work in both a clinic setting, as well as in community and continuum of programs. Whether you need a primary care provider or additional resources to improve your health, they help.
Hope
Their youth program connects young people experiencing homelessness or aging out of the foster care system to resources and supports their journey toward self-sufficiency.
Together, these social service programs provide more than 50,000 human touches in Dallas and Paris, Texas. Here’s more about how CitySquare services these four key areas for neighbors in need.
By providing fresh groceries, and free, nutritious meals after school and in the summer, they are fighting to end hunger in their city. The Food Pantry operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no pre-registration required. They are open to all zip codes. Neighbors can pick up groceries at the Food Pantry once every two weeks.
CitySquare also fights poverty through many unique programs including Walk-In Case Management and their Housing Programs. More than 600 housing units in Dallas are provided through the CitySquare housing programs.
The mission of CitySquare’s health programs is to improve access to care and the most critical health needs facing South Dallas’ residents. Since 1998, the CitySquare Community Clinic has served adults and children by providing a permanent medical home for the uninsured in the community. Through preventative screenings, a collaborative care team approach, and innovative community-based practices, the CitySquare Community Clinic became recognized in 2012 as a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Level 3 Patient Centered
Medical Home—the highest level attainable. The Community Health Promotion Program helps neighbors adopt healthy habits and prevent the chronic diseases often prevalent in lower-income communities. CitySquare can even help neighbors sign up for health insurance! And then, CitySquare’s TRAC program connects young people, ages 14-24, who are transitioning from substitute care toward selfsufficiency, with individualized support, planning and access to community services.
