M

elinda Farina, otherwise known in the health and beauty industry as The Beauty Broker, has been matchmaking patients with the surgeons and top aesthetic specialists for the past 16 years. Social Life caught up with The Beauty Broker to get to know a bit more about her… What made you decide to be a beauty broker? I grew up in the beauty industry and I’ve worked in every aspect of a dental and medical practice. Through the years I learned that there was a major void in the industry. For starters there is a lot of smoke in mirrors within the marketing and advertising of aesthetic procedures, innovations, and technologies. Sometimes, social media makes it more difficult for patients to find the right solutions. Patients at times seem to be extremely confused and don’t know how to vet the right niche surgeons for their needs. Working with and mentored by top specialists, I would always quietly sit in on their meetings and listen to the most brilliant board certified aesthetic professionals in the world speak and present cases. Once I started sharing my knowledge with my friends and making spot-on recommendations, it became a domino effect of referrals. I realized that patient education and streamlining the selection process was something that was truly needed in our industry. Who needs you most? Anyone with questions about aesthetic medicine. Patients looking for a procedure but feel completely overwhelmed with the options. Patients who have consistently gone in for procedures and have not achieved their desired results. Patients who have had botched surgery or have been taken advantage of by unethical doctors. Patients that only want the best. What’s the most rewarding aspect of what you do? Knowing that I’m really truly educating a patient and putting them in the hands of a quality practitioner who is going to make it his or her business to deliver the most natural aesthetic results. My clients never look “done.” Doctors know my expectations when I’m bringing them a patient and they know if I am referring a patient to them it is because I honestly feel they are the best at that one specific procedure. They consistently take pride in proving just that. Aging and sometimes unfortunate genes can take a toll on a patient’s self esteem, confidence, and overall attitude. I am empathetic to this.
