We honor and acknowledge that Peters Valley exists on the lands of the Munsee Lenni Lenape people, whose ancestors were the first craftspeople and makers on this land that today is stewarded by the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Peters Valley is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity. This will remain one of our most critical goals, ensuring the school supports all who come here, with no bias in regard to age, color, disability, gender identification, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, economic status or veteran status.

Welcome!
We are excited to welcome you back to in-person workshops at Peters Valley School of Craft.
In the face of all that 2020 brought, Peters Valley was able to pivot quickly to keep enriching lives through craft. We launched a brand-new website, offered online workshops & artist talks, and organized our first-ever Virtual Craft Fair. In our 50th Anniversary year, we applied the resiliency and skills that craft teaches us to address the needs of our time - and for the future.
But there is just no real substitute for hands-on learning in community.
This year, we’ve decided to bring back limited workshops safely to help you reconnect with meaningful experiences and people. Peters Valley has always been dedicated to safety. This year, we’ll be taking special precautions to be COVIDsafe too. Because we have a lot of open air space and small classes, in-person workshops can resume with some adaptations. Please see details about our safety procedures inside - and more about all of the vibrant programming we have in-person and online. There is a lot to experience at Peters Valley.
We’ve missed seeing you and our whole community in-person. Now it’s possible to have a fulfilling learning experience together again. We hope you’ll make your way (back) to Peters Valley this summer.

MAKING OUR WAY BACK SAFELY
Peters Valley School of Craft has always made the health and safety of its community a top priority. We are carefully monitoring conditions associated with the spread of COVID-19, and are following the guidance of the State of New Jersey Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations on keeping commercial establishments safe.
• Small Class Size: Peters Valley has always kept class sizes small to allow ample workspace, instructor interaction and safety. Class sizes range from 5 to 12 students.
• Fewer Classes on Campus: To keep the overall number of visitors to our campus manageable, fewer classes will be offered each week.
• Limited Lodging: All on-campus lodging will consist of single rooms (doubles are available for members of the same household, but only enrolled students may stay on campus). Rooms will be extremely limited and will sell-out very fast. We encourage off-campus lodging such as Airbnb, Vrbo, camping and local cabins.
• Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at our Dining Hall and outdoor seating will be available.
• Clean & Safe: Studios will follow strict cleaning routines and air purifiers, equipment sanitizers, touchless faucets & sanitizing stations have been installed. Peters Valley follows and adheres to Federal mask mandates and policies as we are located within a National Recreation Area.
• Helping You Plan: We will reach out to everyone prior to their workshop with the most up to date procedures and protocols.
Please review our full COVID-19 policies on our website.

PETERS VALLEY CORE VALUES
Peters Valley ENRICHES LIVES through the learning, practice, and appreciation of fine crafts.
The making of fine crafts is a kind of EXPLORATION , which relies on an integration of heart, head, and hands. Peters Valley encourages and facilitates this exploration in everything we do.
We are a vibrant community, bringing together established and emerging artists from around the globe. COMING TOGETHER to make things makes us better artists, able to learn from each other, and to evaluate our own efforts in a wider context.
We provide studio-based educational workshops for life-long learners who have the opportunity to benefit from working with nationally and internationally
RECOGNIZED ARTISTS
We are stewards of the CREATIVE PROCESS : from preparation, to incubation, to illumination, to verification. We strive to develop the creative abilities of all of our participants through this focus on process.
We provide an inspiring natural setting, intensive instruction, the right tools, and a supportive environment to immerse oneself in making things by hand. Fresh air and respite from one’s normal routine can bring FRESH INSIGHTS , and for some, perhaps, opportunities for peak moments, magic, and transformation.
Our gallery shows, craft fairs, annual auctions, presentations at various festivals, community outreach efforts, and other programs allow us to both bring fine crafts to a wider audience, and to help SHAPE FUTURE STANDARDS of excellence in fine crafts.
We honor the tradition of crafts by continuing to experiment with new techniques and materials, in pursuit of artistic, professional, and personal GROWTH . This is our focus and joy.
We are firmly committed to INCLUSION, DIVERSITY AND EQUITY. Our programs are made possible in part by funds from
