Sharing content regularly across your social media pages can be time-intensive, but it’s worth it because 58% of consumers check a brand’s social media pages before visiting its website. Your social channels are a quick and easy way for people to find out what your organisation is all about.
Each social media channel uses a different algorithm to evaluate the content published in real time and choose which posts are the most engaging and relevant to show to its users.
• Sharing regular content about your brand and initiatives is key to ensure your messaging will come across, to attract a loyal audience of followers and motivate them to take action. • Use narrative content, emojis, images and video assets to enrich your social posts and create an engaging story that evokes an emotional response from your audience. • Avoid only sharing your own posts - engage with your followers and the accounts you follow by asking them questions, resharing content from others and tagging people in your posts so you’re taking part in social conversations. • Monitor awareness and engagement metrics across your posts including reach, impressions, comments, likes, shares and clicks. This can help you assess your performance and refine your efforts going forward.

• Algorithm rules change often as platforms launch new formats so it can feel overwhelming to keep track of best practice. Active users are always more visible than those who post their content but don’t engage with the platform. • Using images and videos generally makes your posts more engaging, and thus visible, as does using relevant keywords and hashtags that your target audiences are likely to search through. • You can post similar content posts that perform well across different social platforms by simply adjusting your copy length, resizing your images and changing your hashtags. • Organic content refers to the posts you share that show up in your followers’ feeds organically, and paid/sponsored content refers to the content you decide to promote to help it reach an audience of social media users beyond your followers.
