Sobriety House 2023 Recap Dear Staff Members, Board Members, Contractors, Donors, and Supporters of Sobriety House, Board of Trustees

The Leadership Team and I would like to provide you with a summary of the wonderful things you all have helped us achieve this past year, as well as a few things we have to look forward to in 2024.

With an acknowledgment of some adversity and growing pains, we’ve endeavored to overcome these and have accomplished quite a lot.

Accomplishments in 2023 Program Enhancements Bill Dolan, former Executive Director, continuation of biofeedback as an evidence-based practice (EBP) and a unique complement to program, as well as providing clinical group supervision to teach REBT modality Addition of registered therapy rabbits to the program: Hazel and Dandelion

Operational Milestones Spanish translation of the Phase I manual completed and printed for our Spanish-speaking clients Successful donation campaigns totaling $34,594 Individual donations: $33,667 Kendra Scott event: $374 Colorado Gives Day: $553 Successful grant application awards totaling $347,919 Progress through Jay Voigt with Human Capital Consulting to notably improve various aspects of organizational management, and with significant efforts from Amber Walter and the leadership team: Hiring and onboarding process Leadership coaching HR processes and policies Restructuring/clarification of job roles and job descriptions Stoplight reporting Updating of various policies and procedures Client Satisfaction Surveys On a 5 point scale: Clients rated their individual counseling an average of 4.63 Clients rated their group counseling an average of 4.32 Clients rated the housing and accommodations an average of 4.39 (See client survey comments below)

Accomplishments in 2023 continued:

Organizational Development Gaylord Program Improvements More community engagement- House meetings, community chores, and community outings Furniture improvements Building improvements- new carpet, sewage pipe replacement, gardening, assigned parking Establishment of our donor relations plan/process with assistance of an outside expert, Meghan Shay of Step Denver Audit Results Fiscal year 2022-2023 audit results: We are proud to report that the audit, conducted by Taylor, Roth, and Company, PLLC, concluded with no concerns or issues. This clean audit gives us confidence in our financial foundation, allowing us to focus on our mission and the positive impact we aim to make.

Employee Surveys Throughout the year, we conducted monthly surveys to gauge the sentiments and experiences of our dedicated team members. These surveys covered a spectrum of critical topics, providing us with valuable insights into the workplace dynamics and employee satisfaction.

The overall average percentage of approximately 85.3% across key areas, including Recognition and Performance, Autonomy and Ownership, Management, Teamwork, Benefits, Morale and Retention, and Learning and Growth, reflects a consistently positive sentiment and comprehensive approach to employee satisfaction and engagement.

Accomplishments in 2023 continued:

Employee Happiness: One of the standout achievements of the year has been the consistently high levels of employee happiness. Across various dimensions, our team members have expressed satisfaction and contentment, with a remarkable 95.55% average happiness rating over the course of the year.

Employee Appreciation 24 staff recognized for monthly themes of: taking initiative, positive attitude, care, sincerity, reliability, compassion, and consistency and awarded gift cards in appreciation of their hard work and dedication Paul Sponsel celebrated 20 years as an employee with Sobriety House, and Lorretta Dewey 21 years Significant salary increases in March to bring all staff up to market and offer competitive rates, stabilize workforce, and to show our appreciation for everyone’s hard work Employee Development and Engagement 10 staff trainings provided: LGBTQIA+ Cultural Competency Daring Way (based on Brene Brown’s work) Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) KnowBe4 cyber security self-paced trainings Conflict Management Psychological Safety and follow-up Harassment refresher Cultural Competency Treating Addiction from a Depth/Jungian Persepctive

Accomplishments in 2023 continued: Team Building and other Special Events 4 Soberversary celebrations with alumni speakers Snooze-donated pancake breakfast for clients and staff Darryl Brown (SoHo alumnus and former staff) and students from 5280 High School visit Pottery painting team building event Mini golf and Mexican food team building event Colorado Board of Veteran Affairs held their meeting at Dolan House on Main Campus Annual Holiday Party- with possibly the largest turnout in SoHo history!

Internship Program Successful implementation of the internship program for social work students Hosted two interns (one BSW and one MSW) in clinical internships Hosted one BSW student looking for service learning hours Other Program and Property Enhancements Much needed refurbishments for Main Campus and Stepping Stone, to include updated furniture for client rooms, main areas, and office spaces This was a team effort, but we would also like to specifically recognize Erin Malman for her contribution and eye for design Full kitchen remodel on Main Campus Community Engagement Colfax Marathon participation Veterans Suicide Prevention COLLABORATE program: implemented Veteran-specific policies and procedures into the Sobriety House curriculum- a special thanks to Jacob Frye for this effort Various legislative efforts, including work on a bill that encourages transparency with Medicaid RAE billing rates, adding language to bill to hopefully increase reimbursement rates, hosting tours for State Legislators at SoHo to learn more about us, and participating in the Opioid Interim Committee Special thanks to Devon Peavy for his work on legislative efforts for SoHo Conferences attended: Winter Symposium Presented at and attended the national ASAM Conference in Washington D.C. Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council (CBHC) Conference Colorado Nonprofit Association Conference Technology Improvements Upgraded tech around campus, including 12 new Zenbook laptops for staff, improved printing capacity in several offices, and completely rebuilt and upgraded old and outdated technology around campuses Major network upgrades at Main Campus Completely redesigned website Negotiated contract with Team Recovery for a SoHo app that has been built and is currently in Beta testing for a full launch in 2024 Creation of a scanning station for file archive project Sobriety House, Inc. is a state licensed, nonprofit drug and alcohol treatment center dedicated to offering high quality and effective services through an extensive continuum of care to support clients in lifelong recovery, regardless of ability to pay.

Looking forward to 2024:

Program Expansions Bill Dolan adding EMDR as an evidenced-based practice as he continues to volunteer Reinstating the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) portion of our program New Initiatives Building on the Veterans Suicide Prevention COLLABORATE program, a new project opportunity was extended to Sobriety House by the team at the Rocky Mountain MIRECC. This new project is utilizing private grant funding and aims to build on Veterans-specific programming by implementing Lethal Means Safety counseling policies and procedures. Sobriety House was identified by the team as an exemplary advocate and provider for Colorado’s Veterans, and as such will collaborate with SoHo to build out a Lethal Means Safety counseling program that will include clinical training, education, and resources, suicide prevention and lethal means safety promotional materials (gun locks, gun safes, veterans crisis line), weekly ongoing community of practice to provide clinical supervision, monthly organizational support implementation meetings, and more. Sobriety House has begun to be recognized as a preferred provider for SUD support services by the Regional VA. Infrastructure Development Completion of the Lakewood building and opening/moving in of clients Beginning the full remodel of the Stepping Stone location Continued refurbishments of various office spaces and rooms on Main Campus and Stepping Stone Community Engagement Team Recovery app implementation for client and staff use Colfax Marathon participation May 18th and 19th
