About Snow Valley ABOUT SNOW VALLEY In 1948, two well-known Edmontonians, W. G. Evans and E. S. J. Bryant formed Adsum Ltd. and rented out land on the west bank of the Whitemud Creek Basin.

By 1953, Snow Valley had officially opened to the public, boasting a modern rope tow serving four large slopes and trails, a chalet with a snack bar and a ski school run by famed mountain guide Bruno Engler. In 1961, 5 members of the Eskimo Ski Club; Bruce Allsopp, Ted Bishop, Norm Rault, George Shipley and Gordon Torgness applied for not-for-profit status under the Societies Act and on November 30th, formally registered the organization as Snow Valley Ski Club. The assets of the facility were purchased by the City of Edmonton, which operated the facility while Snow Valley Ski Club provided all the programs.

In 1973, a new lodge was built to fulfill the needs of a growing club with 3,400 members. To further deal with the growth, in 1981 Snow Valley installed a T-Bar lift and a new limited capacity snow making system. After the 1981/1982 season, the City began gradually decreasing its involvement with Snow Valley. The Club became responsible first for the management of the facility, and then in the 1985/1986 season took full responsibility for the maintenance and operations of the ski hill. Now responsible for the operation and direction of the facility, Snow Valley continued to grow. Upgrades to many of the facilities and assets were needed to keep up with the growth. By 1988, a triple chair lift was installed, the north hill was re-contoured, and the snow making system was updated.

In 2000, construction of a brand new lodge began on the southeast corner of the hill. The 17,800 square foot mountain lodge was completed in the summer of 2001.

Over the next several years the hill saw further improvements to keep pace with the growth. These improvements included building a learning area complete with a carpet lift, removing the old handle tow lift and replacing it with a second carpet lift, upgrading the snow making pumps and equipment, as well as adding new features to the terrain park. In 2008, Snow Valley opened a first-of-its-kind high-speed 'pulse' quad chair. This chair replaced the t-bar and opened up more terrain.

Now with over 180,000 visits annually, Snow Valley looks into the future. Plans are already underway for new upgrades to ensure that Edmontonians will continue to have a great facility to enjoy for years to come.

* Up to 5 immediate Family Members Only. Includes up to 2 adult guardians and dependant children under the age of 18 that reside in the same household. Additional fees will be charged for additional children. Family package includes ski rentals only. Snowboard rentals are an extra $17 per person.

Prices do not include GST. Prices and terms subject to change without notice. Helmets are not included in any rental package. A $2 protection fee is charged on all snowboard rentals. Equipment can only be used at Snow Valley. You will be required to sign a release of liability waiver. If you are under 18 an adult must be present to sign. Additional fees will be charged for additional children in the family packages.

Please note that all pre-registered lessons and seasons passes are non-refundable.
