At its core, homework serves as a valuable tool for reinforcing classroom learning and fostering independent study habits It provides students with the opportunity to delve deeper into topics covered in class, solidify their understanding through practice, and develop critical thinking skills, inside the comfort of their homes By this, they are able to catch up more comfortably

Moreover, homework can help bridge the gap between school and home, encouraging parental involvement in a child's education and fostering a supportive learning environment beyond the classroom walls But how come nowadays, we notice many students are becoming more easily tired? How come we are starting to see the more negative sides and the cons of this? Homework, in terms of psychology, refers to tasks assigned to students by teachers to be completed outside of the classroom, or from the word "home" it's quite self-explanatory

It serves several purposes, including reinforcing learning, practicing skills, and extending the learning process beyond the classroom environment From a psychological perspective, homework can also promote self-regulation, time management, and responsibility in students

Additionally, it can provide opportunities for students to apply and consolidate their understanding of the material, leading to improved retention and mastery of the subject matter With the help of homework, students are able to look back on the previous lesson, or study for the next one beforehand School, homework, extracurricular activities, sleep, repeat that’s what it can be for some of these students,”

DSPC FIGHT ON! Grade 12 on Real-World Work

There are hundreds of journalists dressed in white shirts, walking with their heads high, hoping that they will win and be part of the RSPC (Regional Schools Press Conference). After a year, DSPC waved on the Aspiring Journalists from schools of Marikina City.

Journalism isn’t just about writing, It’s also about how the writers express themselves through facts. Upon not being comfortable, the young journalists patiently wait for their names to be called.

Unfortunately, only one passionate journalist in the category of photojournalism in Filipino won 5th place. Fortunately, The school paper of the SNNHS (Sto. Nino National High School) did not just pass to the Top 10, they were also able to enter the regionals.

Maria Alysa Querubin won 5th place in Photojournalism in Filipino. I asked her, “What was your reaction when you found out that you won 5th place?” “My reaction when I found out that I won 5th place in photojournalism was very happy, and I was surprised because I didn't expect to be among the winners because many contestants are using DSLR cameras and I only have a digital camera so I overthink it there,” she said.

School Paper, The Framework Tribune, won 7th Place and reserved a spot to RSPC, also known as Regional Schools Press Conference while Ang Saligan was able to win 8th place in the DSPC of School Paper in Filipino and also a qualifier of the RSPC. I asked my SPA in English Journalism, Mrs. Angelyn Gayda, if she expected that we would win the school paper contest and qualify for the regional. and she said that she had high hopes because aside from the required number of pages, we had interesting and newsworthy articles. “You are a journalist, a Radio Broadcaster. Are you disappointed that your team didn’t win this DSPC?” “No, because we did every bit of our hard work and practiced TOGETHER as a team. There are times that we did pray for a good outcome yet expected. We could never be disappointed because we went through hard times as a team, and that is enough because we overcame it all,” Bianca Pascual said.t of body text

In the next division meet, will you compete again with higher expectations and what preparations will you do to meet your expectations? “As a broadcaster and journalist, I understand the importance of being prepared and setting high expectations for oneself to excel in the competitive field of journalism. Effective communication is at the heart of journalism, and it is essential for me to continuously improve my skills in this area. The field of journalism is constantly evolving, and I need to remain adaptable and open to learning new skills. I will seek out opportunities for professional development to ensure that I am always up-todate with the latest trends and best practices in journalism.” Bianca Pascual, stated. A radio broadcaster of the Framework Tribune.

Upon hearing their answers, they showed their Enthusiasm for being committed to Campus Journalism. Congrats to all the journalists who made a lot of effort and gave time to train harder to compete with other schools. Campus Journalism can unite every student who’s a writer at heart in every corner of Marikina City.

Senior High students from Sto. Niño National High School started its work Immersion on February 12 in various establishments within Marikina.

Work immersion in the Philippines is an important part of the educational system. It gives students the chance to gain practical experiences in real-world settings. In addition, it allows senior high students to develop skills such as communication, teamwork, productivity, decision-making, punctuality, and many more. It enables students to be prepared for the future path they have to take. This is the requirement of the senior high school curriculum, which requires 80 hours of real-world work experience for students to get a sense of what it is like to be employed.

Students' workplaces were assigned within Marikina City and across various establishments within the City, some were assigned to the canteen of Sto. Niño National High School. Home Economics students were assigned to Dapo at Tisa Filipino Cuisine restaurant, Garden Mirror Events Place, Comedor by Miguel and Maria restaurant, Yahu kitchen, and school canteen. Meanwhile, under computer programming students were assigned to Sto. Niño Barangay Hall, PLMAR, SSS, and BFP. According to Ms. Rosalinda Endaya - Work Immersion Coor "So far we have 210 insured Grade students deployed in 27 work immersion partners around Marikina City" .

“It feels exciting and cautious at the same time, because we get to experience things inside the workplace that are new to us, but also cautious because of the stakes that we carry being just students," said Melquisedee S. Quijada - one of the OJTs from Bureau of Fire Protection, and the other student from the field of Home Economics also stated "Mahirap talaga pero masaya naman lalo na kapag na feel mong welcome ka sa resto nila and gusto kang kasama ng mga staff nila (It is really difficult, but it's also enjoyable especially when you feel welcomed in their restaurant and the staff wants you to be with them)," said Hannah Joy C. Atanacio - one of the OJTs from Yahu Kitchen.

Sto. Niño National High School has only a TechnicalVocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, which includes Home Economics and Computer Programming. Inside the school, there are a total of five sections in Grade 12 named Competency, Consistency, Efficiency, Resiliency, and Proficiency, and all of these sections experienced a real-work setting. Sto. Niñians had the opportunity to apply their knowledge, skills, and learn in school in real-life work situations during their work immersion. As part of their training process, they practice each task expected of them and get detailed information about what processes their job involves. that’s why the students are deployed to office related work and restaurants. The work immersion started on February 12.

Marikina Helps Businesses to Bloom

On June 15, 2024, the upcoming law that will help people who are earning a living in the City of Marikina have been signed by Mayor Marcy Teodoro Ordinance 140, Series 2023, which provides full Business Permits and Business Tax Exemption for various stores and carinderia in Marikina City, and Ordinance 139, Series of 2023, which extends the period for the renewal of business permits without surcharges and penalties for the tax year of 2024

Meanwhile, the exemption is given annually by the City Government to qualified sari-sari stores and carinderia to compensate and provide relief to those people who are a small investor in Marikina

The Business Permits serve as documentation that your company complies with relevant rules and regulations The requirements vary by jurisdiction, and failure to comply often results in fines or even having your business shut down It is proof that your business is legal and when the authorities come to check your business you need to show papers and a business permit to show the legalization and follow the regulations of the law

I conducted an interview with a person who owns a business, Mr Gilbert Angeles I asked him, “What are your thoughts regarding lengthening the business permit renewal period?” and he said, “I am relieved and pleased because, as we all know, only some businesses are successful or profitable within a single industry Some people are struggling to pay for the business renewal permit and to purchase necessary materials and other items because I managed a Coffee shop and Sari-Sari Store The business renewal permit is crucial because it governs the safety, organization, and appearance of the business community ”

I also asked him, “What can you say about Mayor Marcy Teodoro extending the business permit and do you think there are any advantages to extending the business permit?” “I suppose one could argue that this is beneficial to the businesses that haven't renewed yet businesses that haven't renewed yet I can state that Mayor Marcy considers the benefits that the city's residents will receive from extending business permits It is helpful in that local and Small business owners will benefit from having the time to do so rather than having to rush it, as some have stated that they won't renew because of their business's low income Despite having enterprises, many others are still less fortunate even if they have businesses , and some people's businesses are illegal because they lack business permits,” he said

This is it. The SNNHS Senior High Students are excited to have their work immersion to different establishments last February 12, 2024.

One of Mayor Marcy's first aims as City Chief was to grant business permits and business tax exemptions to Carinderias and Sari-Sari establishments The first year of its implementation was in 2017, and the City Government makes an effort to carry it out annually Every year, the City Government strives to implement it Students of Sto Niño National High School became ambitious in reaching their dreams Mostly, they want to pursue business or when in senior high, they choose ABM strand so that they can help their families’ business to bloom and be able to create a business for themselves in the future They also want to learn all about the business world Let's help these students in their quest to achieve their goals and build successful businesses Let's support businesses of all kinds I conducted an interview with a fellow Sto Ninian whose mother is a business owner of a cafe, Tristan C Tiamzon We can say that he’s already exposed inside the business world and maybe that’s the reason why he wants to become a businessman someday, to know more and to learn more

"Hindi madali ang buhay" said by Mr. Andrei Padlan- SSLG President and one of the OJTs from the Over Easy Restaurant. Moreover, according to Ms. Rosalinda Endaya - Work Immersion Coordinator, “We have 210 insured Grade students deployed in 27 work immersion partners around Marikina City".

According to the Sto. Niño Senior High Students I had interviewed, they experienced skills building, broadened their knowledge, and provided practical, hands-on, irreplicable experience in their workplaces. Aside from that, they gained skills and knowledge needed in their work in a professional environment.

I asked him what made him choose the ABM Strand when he went and register in FEU Roosevelt and he said that he chose the ABM Strand because in the following years, every business in this country is already widespread in every corner and he also sees the rapid growth of the business industry I also asked him if his mom is the reason why he wants to become a business man someday and he said, no and he’s actually the one who influenced his parents to start a business to supplement their daily income A student like him should be looked up to because at a very young age, he started to help out his family so that they can have a stable life

In addition, these business permit extensions will help them to expand their operations, and those who do not yet have one will undoubtedly obtain one for their business to be legal due to the implementation of this and how it will assist the people in extending the business permit This is a good example of how our Mayor Marcy Teodoro is leading the way in our community's support of small businesses growing for the better

Marikina LGU to Sue Supplier Over Inverted PH Flag Shown at Palarong Pambansa Drone Show

The Marikina City government has ignited a legal battle against a drone systems operator and provider following a glaring oversight during the closing ceremony of the highly anticipated 2023 Palarong Pambansa The controversy erupted when the Philippine flag, symbolizing unity and national pride, was displayed with an egregious error – the colors were inverted, with red erroneously positioned above blue

The City Mayor said that they are providing tax relief to small business owners to help them recover from the effects of the pandemic. The ordinance is designed to support small businesses, such as convenience stores and eateries, within the city. It is within the ordinance that the country is still experiencing the effects of the pandemic which makes the relief even more necessary and appropriate.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/metro/878025/marikina-lgu-to-sue-supplier-over-inverted-ph-flag-shown-at-palarong-pambansa-droneshow/story/

In a meticulously planned event held at the Marikina Sports Center, the drone show was meant to be a captivating highlight, celebrating the culmination of the Palarong Pambansa. However, the joyous atmosphere was overshadowed by the flag mishap, which not only drew widespread criticism but also prompted swift and decisive action from local authorities.

The Marikina City Government, under the steadfast leadership of Mayor Marcy Teodoro, unequivocally condemns this incident and is pursuing legal recourse against DroneTech PH to establish the company's legal responsibilities, including appropriate penalties and fines," reiterated the LGU in an official statement. The gravity of the situation was further underscored by the symbolic importance of the Philippine flag and its representation of the nation's identity and values. The inadvertent error struck a chord with citizens across the country, sparking outrage and demands for accountability.

In response to mounting pressure, DroneTech issued a public apology, acknowledging the severity of the oversight and attributing it to unforeseen challenges. The company cited adverse weather conditions and signal interference in the area as factors that hindered the timely rectification of the error.

"We deeply regret the oversight in the Drone Show programming, which should have been rectified during pre-event testing. However, adverse weather conditions and signal interference hampered our efforts to correct the mistake," DroneTech expressed in its apology, attempting to provide context for the unfortunate incident. As investigations unfold and legal proceedings commence, both the Marikina LGU and DroneTech find themselves under intense scrutiny, with public opinion divided on the extent of accountability and the appropriate course of action. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of meticulous planning and rigorous quality control measures in organizing large-scale events, especially those with significant national symbolism.

The controversy surrounding the inverted Philippine flag at the Palarong Pambansa drone show has ignited discussions on social media platforms, with netizens expressing a myriad of opinions ranging from calls for stricter regulations on event preparations to expressions of empathy for the challenges faced by organizers and service providers. The incident has prompted soulsearching within the event planning community, highlighting the need for heightened attention to detail and adherence to protocols, particularly when it comes to emblematic national symbols. As the legal proceedings unfold, the repercussions of this flag faux pas are likely to resonate far beyond the confines of the Palarong Pambansa, serving as a cautionary tale for organizers and stakeholders involved in future national events.

BFP launches "Fire Prevention Tips” due to Skyrocketing Fire Cases

Due to the recent fires in Tumana and Fortune in Marikina City, harming many people. The BFP of the city is at stand-by for any fire that may occur. Currently there are many individuals that are in line to help people educate and keep them safe. This is because March is one of the hottest months of the year and it marks the beginning of summer. Many people consider it a proper time to promote awareness and knowledge about the hazards, causes and dangers of fire.

This month aims to raise "Safety consciousness among our people every day of the year as a positive preventive approach to a problem that can be solved by more caution, vigilance, sobriety, the exercise of common sense, and respect for the law.” The BFP reveals new tips to avoid fire hazards in schools where students could be in danger, such as; Unplug all electrical equipment when not in use and check electrical equipment regularly to prevent overloading of electrical circuits, enforce the "No smoking" policy inside or outside the school and dispose of cigarette butts properly and plan ahead–establish a school emergency and evacuation plan and familiarize yourself with escape routes.

If clothes are on fire, don't run or panic, do: “Stop,

Fire incidents are seen as dangerous and can harm anyone. However, keep in mind that using these tips can help us reduce the number of these dangerous accidents. And always remember that what distinguishes a survivor to a victim is just the way they think.

The BFP, along with different barangays, schools, are educating the people about fire safety and prevention.

The BFP also encourages young people to join any organizations such as the SNNHS MC-ALERT and RCY that does regular drills in their communities to help minimize the number of these cases, while also training them. Sto. Nino National High School students are being alerted and educated when it comes to these certain causes of natural disaster. Drills are one of the ways for them to be ready and to face an emergency with confidence. Particularly, these drills reinforce safety protocols, nurture readiness, and reduce panic during critical incidents.

The BALANCING THE BENEFITS AND BURNOUTS IN HOMEWORK

Ultimately, finding a balance between the benefits and burnouts of homework is important for promoting students' wellbeing and academic success

In light of these concerns, it's essential for educators and policymakers to rethink the role of homework in the modern educational landscape Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, homework policies should be flexible and tailored to meet the needs of individual students and communities This may involve setting reasonable limits on the amount of homework assigned, ensuring that assignments are purposeful and relevant to students' learning objectives, and providing support for those who may struggle to complete tasks independently One study conducted by Dr Pamela Thatcher, titled "University students and 'the 9x5 grind': The health effects of long commutes and long hours", found that long commutes and long hours of work or study can lead to increased fatigue and sleepiness among students, negatively impacting their overall wellbeing and academic performance

Considering pros and cons of homework, it's important to consider communications with parents along with teachers to more balanced and effective approaches to concerning the topic By involving parents in discussions about the purpose and value of homework, educators can gain insights into students' home environments and tailor assignments accordingly

Moreover, fostering collaborative partnerships between parents and teachers can promote a shared responsibility for

students' academic success and overall development Ultimately, integrating parental perspectives into homework policies can lead supporting students' learning experiences

Moreover, Dr. Keith Robinson, a professor of sociology at the University of Texas at Austin, and Dr Angel L Harris, a professor of sociology and African American studies at Duke University, conducted a longitudinal study on parental involvement in children's education. Their research, published

Drawn by Manuelle Cruz

in the journal "The Broken Compass: Parental Involvement with Children's Education," suggests that while parental involvement in homework can have positive effects on academic outcomes, such as improved grades and higher achievement test scores, the type and level of involvement matter significantly They emphasize the importance of meaningful engagement that goes beyond simply checking homework completion, focusing instead on fostering a supportive learning

environment at home

Overall, the said program has a negative effect not only to the teachers and students but to the parents as well It is much better for them to have the government plan ahead of time so that they don't have to worry about studying and working The government should provide another solution not only by giving vouchers but they should also have a backup plan for the sake of the students, teachers, and parents

VOUCHER, NO MORE!

Removing the voucher in Senior High School has been one of the most talked about issues currently on the internet But Why is that? As stated above, CatchUp Friday's purpose is to emphasize students'-

What is the purpose of Catch-Up Friday? Could it enhance students' academic performance? Numerous schools nationwide both Elementary and Secondary are implemented on DepEd's program called "Catch-up Friday". This program focuses on enhancing students' academic Performance, specifically on reading by aiming at students who are frustrated readers. The program requires schools to dedicate half of the day to reading activities and to devote the other half to values, health, and peaceful education

academic capabilities Such as reading, teaching morals, health and peaceful education, as other students are experiencing difficulties in reading, suffering from mental health conditions. As a student, Catch-Up Friday may be the key to developing educational performance, at the same time the students' can boost up their capabilities and build their selfconfidence when it comes to school activities such as group work, recitations, reporting and extracurricular activities

Even though Catch-Up Friday can be helpful to students, there are also downsides of this program

Some lessons would be delayed, especially on those subjects that only meet two times per week

Since Catch-Up Friday is-

sharing outside and random knowledge, making it confusing to other students Several students are also exaggerating Catch-Up Friday Activities

Notwithstanding the fact that it is not graded nor recorded, A few students say that it doesn't seem to enhance the learner's capabilities, but only worsen their stress, pressure and mental health.

Based on the survey on Sto Niño National High School's students, amongst the 21 students who participated, the study reported students who agreed (85 7%) and disagreed (14 3%) From this percentage, the majority has shown that Catch-Up Friday is helpful to students that had difficulties on reading Other aspects of academic activities and helping students and-

According to the memo, Grade 12 students in public universities and colleges for the school year 2023-2024 are allowed to finish their studies Additionally, said that the Grade 12 students in public universities and colleges for the school overcome their mental health and to boost up their selfconfidence Showing beyond doubt, ear 2023-2024 are allowed to finish their studies, However HEIsy should stop giving-

that the Catch-Up Friday Program is making excellent progress towards academic performance

Despite it, A few students find it burdensome, stressing and time pressured as Catch-Up Friday is deemed to be onerous, Adding the fact that many students are absent every Friday as some learners would anticipate that there are so many activities that are not included on major subjects As students are enhancing their academic capabilities, self-confidence, and overcoming their mental health, Catch-Up Friday is giving a big help to students to improve and grow However, some students are struggling, stressed and make their mental health even worse As stated above, Catch-Up Friday delays-

programs for the beginning of the school year 2024-2025 Meanwhile, laboratory schools, or those schools who are offering education programs, will still be allowed to accept SHS learners but with limited capacity only

People who are affected by CHED’s directive are 114 SUCs and 146 LUCs, and the 17,751 Grade 11 students enrolled in them Although the DepEd said that they have a direct plan to accommodate the students, the teachers expressed their concerns that the congestion in public schools would worsen, given the shortage of classrooms It might also result in ‘overworked’ public school teachers who will have to handle a bigger class and many students as it was before because of transferees And without the DepEd’s voucher program, aren’t students at risk of losing access to free education

the lesson of the scheduled subjects resulting in getting late from topics from a certain subject In addition, making it difficult to adjust to daily school routines

After all is said and done, Catch-Up Friday can be a help and a hindrance Several students may have already improved, but a few students are pressured, exaggerated and stressed Especially those students who are consistent honor students Catch-Up Friday may be fun and exciting as some students think, some students might say otherwise

because of financial constraints? Students and parents who are already experiencing poverty and financial stability are one of the most affected by this program The parents are going to struggle by thinking where to get money just to pay for their children's education

Overall, the said program has a negative effect not only to the teachers and students but to the parents as well It is much better for them to have the government plan ahead of time so that they don't have to worry about studying and working. The government should provide another solution not only by giving vouchers but they should also have a backup plan for the sake of the students, teachers, and parents

Gender Sensitivity; One of the Grapevine in Media of Gen Z's

LETTER LETTER TO THE TO THE EDITOR EDITOR LETTER LETTER TO THE TO THE EDITOR EDITOR

Dear The Framework Tribune,

I am writing this letter to send my admiration to your previous publication. As a learner, your take on the different issues in our society helped me to be conscious with my surroundings and to integrate that newfound knowledge with my studies. I expect that your articles will maintain their diversity in terms of showcasing different perspectives in a topic. I also suggest that your team will cover the issue of competition among students in a classroom.

Being ambitious and competitive is a good trait to have, it will heighten your standard for every situation and because of that you expect to obtain only the best for yourself, I think that every person deserves that sense of satisfaction. But immense selfprioritization could lead to conflict among people.

This could be mirrored inside the classroom where students fight for their position in the list of honors. The heat of competition can cause anxiety and will make socialization difficult for students. They can dwell on this hardship and eventually carrying it on with the complex society.

I hope that you can formulate a resolution with this issue on your next publication. I root for the success of your team.

Yours sincerely,

Gender Sensitivity in school has been one of the grapevine in media of Gen Z's Students' protest regarding "No Haircut, No Enrollment" reached DepEd However, we go to school to obtain knowledge, for us to grow with personal development, to expand the ability to work with diverse groups, and to develop skills in the future But, would the haircut regulations limit children's capacity to learn, enhance their abilities, interact with a more diverse group, display discipline, and be recognized as students? This topic has been talked about in school, it is often used as a debate topic and a part of a lesson Buckle up! As we dive into the deep trench of this school policy.

Haircut and uniform requirements impede students' ability to learn, improve their skills, engage with a more diverse group, demonstrate discipline, and be recognized as a student? According to the research study, the haircut policy is onesided By getting their haircuts on a regular basis, the students are reminded by themselves that they have a task to complete at a specific time each month t is advantageous to the school because it encourages discipline

However, students find it unnecessary, thus they disregard the policies, believing that they are too shallow to be obeyed

Drawn by Elizabeth Henson

Furthermore, the Haircut Policy will assist students in appearing decent and presentable It inspires them to perform better since they are confident in their haircut It gives them confidence in themselves Haircuts do not define what you can do; rather, they reflect self-enforcement Rules cannot be ignored However, the masses' opinions matter and are based on this type of policy It is likely under Thorndike's theory of Connectionism

One of the examples of this issue is the LGBTQ individuals on social media that are appalled over a video of a transgender woman getting a haircut within a classroom in order to enroll at Manila's Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, BAHAGHARI, an LGBTQ+ rights organization, posted a video of second-year entrepreneurship student Gen (not her real name) receiving a shoulder-length haircut from a fellow student on campus Gen said that the personnel in EARIST informed her that she needed to cut her hair to be able to enroll for the second semester Though, the video riled drag artists such as Pura Luka Vega, Eva Le Queen, and Drag Race Philippines season 2 winner Captivating Katkat; along with LGBTQ+ groups UP Babaylan and Lakapati Laguna,

"We really should stop this Ano naman ang kinalaman ng buhok sa pag-aaral? If anything, children learn better if you let them be their authentic selves " said by Pura Luka Vega Whilst, rules are required to ensure a safe and secure environment in which students may learn and teachers can do their tasks School regulations will help pupils acquire a sense of responsibility and selfdiscipline, both of which are essential attributes for success in life

Thus, according to the findings this theory is one of the interventions that can be proposed Because this theory has three laws of learning; Law of Readiness, Law of Effect, and Law of Exercise According to Thorndike's LAW OF EFFECT, behaviors followed by positive reinforcement or reward are more likely to occur again in the future, but behaviors followed by a punishment are less likely

This basic notion serves as the foundation for many ideas and strategies in the behavioral perspective of educational psychology Based on a study, these are responses to a circumstance that are reinforced by a gratifying condition of events and hence become habitual responses to that situation

This pertains to the outcome A student receives if he adheres to the haircut policy. The reward for adhering to policy leads to a more efficient clearance signing process

According to the LAW OF EXERCISE, frequent stimulus-response connections strengthen behavior Although, Thorndike found in 1932 that his second law was not totally valid in all circumstances Connections are built through practice and diminished when practice is interrupted

As a result, if students follow the policy and continue to do so on a monthly basis, they will be able to learn self-discipline and set a positive example for others Edward Thorndike's LAW OF READINESS refers to a preliminary set on the part of the subject to be studied It emphasizes that learning occurs only when one is physically and psychologically prepared for it

Hence, in the same manner with gender sensitivity that is defined to raise an awareness about equality For everyone to take on board the different rights, roles & responsibilities of a different gender in society and relationships We need to look deeper to understand what's going on in our community and why this issue is relevant to us as a student It has a deeper meaning behind it, such as proper haircuts do not define what you can do and it encourages discipline that is one of the essential attributes for success in life

SNNHS STUDENTS’ OPINIONS.

I don't agree, because there is a lot to do It's hard to adjust because Catch-up Friday covers the time for our subjects Instead of having a lesson from a specific subject, we study a different lesson The time to end this school year is short and that one day is missing just for the extra curriculum

I believe it will let students learn and be aware of such topics that are sensitive to some parents and it can increase the reading comprehension that some students are lacking

Actually, catch up friday doesnt seem to enhance students skills in subjects it focuses, it only worsen their stress and mental stability

I believe Catch-up Friday is essential for us students to learn and read more, especially the topics that some parents avoid discussing with their children

the Catch-up Friday effect for me is motivating the students to do small challenge activities Catch-up Friday is just a random event in a school.

TheNewlyElected 2023-2024

Fun Activities = Best Friday

I think it is pretty good in a way that it can help to nurture student's academic skills

For me since when the Catch-up Friday started I learned to adjust my time because every Friday we are oblige to participate each of activities that related to Catch-up Friday and it's hard also because our duties is not only focusing in every subject we should also focus in activities that given to us every Friday and i also think that the lesson that we tackled or the events every catch up Friday is very common even on elementary period our teachers taught us those topics

It doesn't help because most of the students don t attend because they know it's Catchup Friday because they think they'll just read and do nothing and I think Catch-up Friday doesn t really help because it seems like students only do it as nap time

Honestly, a lot of students hated Catch-Up Friday, because it just adds another batch of schoolwork But, i think it's helpful since it improves students reading skills and it helps them with developing their knowledge about peace, health and values

Catch-up Friday is not fun Friday, it makes a lot of student more tired than usual

The WOMEN AS WOMEN

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”

– Michelle Obama

Women, they have minds and souls. They’re something that society can’t even begin to explain. They have this battle that they tried to win but can’t. But even though that’s been going on for years, they’ve been perceived as strong and independent in society. Women, they have ambition, talent and beauty. Ambition is something that women focus on so that they could show to everyone what they can do, what they can accomplish in any circumstances and it is something they cannot control because they are what they are. Talent is the root of what they have to use against what the society demands of them and probably, that’s the beauty of it. They have something rare that society doesn’t want to know. We don’t know but our instincts say otherwise.

Anchored on this year’s theme “We Make Change Work for Women”, the celebration aims to highlight the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development. This pursuit of development is also anchored on the commitment of “Malasakit at Pagbabago” or True Compassion and Real Change. The Philippine Commission on Women invites advocates of women’s rights to sport purple clothes or accessories every Thursday to show their support and join the call to advance women’s rights and gender equality and end discrimination against women. Proclamation No. 227 series of 1998 provides for the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History month while Republic Act 6949 series of 1990 declares March 8 of every year as International Women’s Day.

March is the month where we celebrate the annual observance to highlight the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society, also known as Women’s Month. Sto. Nino National High School celebrated the first day of March by having a freedom wall and giving out purple ribbons as a symbol of power. It was conducted by the Supreme Secondary Learner’s Government. The proposed project was conducted throughout modern history to represent the fight for gender equality between men and women, also the International Women’s Day. Students in Sto. Nino National High School celebrated Women’s Month by participating in the proposed activity or project of the Supreme Secondary Learner’s Government. Also, the lessons in 3rd Quarter of Araling Panlipunan tackles the Gender Equality of Men, Women and LGBTQ+. One of the lessons in Araling Panlipunan is about the Violence and Discrimination, it focuses more on women. There are a lot of established laws to protect women from any harm, not just women but also the children. One of the established laws is the Magna Carta of Women, Republic Act of 9710, it is the comprehensive women's human rights law that seeks to eliminate discrimination through the recognition, protection, fulfillment, and promotion of the rights of Filipino women, especially those belonging to the marginalized sectors of society.

I conducted an interview to ask my AP teacher, Mrs. Rosalyn De Guzman Delim a several related questions about Women’s Month. The first question that I asked her was “How can she relate the 3rd Quarter lessons in Araling Panlipunan to Women’s

Month?” and she said, “The 3rd Quarter lessons tackle the sex and gender which is up to date. It is very timely and the lesson hit the same time as Women's Month where we promote the skill and talent of women. So, we discussed women's rights and how equality can be shown regardless of what your sex is.” I also ask her that as a teacher and a mother, how does she manage to juggle her two duties on a daily basis and she said that for her, it’s hard because during the day, she’s working and then going home, she has a child waiting for her and so for her, time management is needed when it comes to that and be able to budget the time responsibly. I ask her this because a lot of teachers have their own family and just thinking about it, I know it’s hard. They just can’t quit their job because there are tons of students that rely on them and they know they want to learn. That’s why for me, teachers are very strong for putting up something like that because being able to juggle being a mom and a teacher is something they should be proud of and we should honor them with what they deserve.

The last question that I asked her was, "Is being a woman in a society hard?” and she said that today it is not hard, unlike before because women are able to keep up to what men can do and sometimes men aren’t able to do something that women can. As for her, she also got used to it especially as a mother and a teacher and not just her but also other women.

After I interviewed my AP teacher, I realized that being a teacher already accomplished a lot of things and that it is remarkable to be able to do something like that. There is no limit. There is no judgment and even if there was, who are they to stop you? It’s you, it is who you are

Quack! Quack! Quack!

Another day, another trend.

cute product because when something cute is on your hair, beautiful will be on your face. Slay!

This kind of product is an idea of creativity indeed. The product became popular once again on Valentine’s Day. A lot of people are

roaming around the streets with it. It also became a wonderful little gift for their loved ones. As the one who also received this kind of gift, I was flattered.

A pop culture and literature professor at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, on Friday, Feb. 16, explained why the trending duck clip became popular in the Philippines. "Whatever is trendy, we imitate" he added, explaining that the duck clip is just one of the trends from the past.

Duck clips have been going and shaking around through this flooded trend once again. This product is a silly little thing that you can put on your hair, and each duck has different designs. There's a duck that has cool sunglasses, a duck with a flower, a cap, a ribbon, a summer hat, and a lot more.

and that’s what you should focus on.

Not others, just you. At least be selfish for once, being selfish for the right reason can do you better. Respect yourself as you respect others. This time, we should honor women with our desire to be heard. Being heard is so much more than just listening because you can listen without understanding anything but being heard is when eyes collide with someone’s eyes and just understand it completely with initiative. Empowered is the word that women have described for decades. We should be empowered because women won’t stop fighting. Don’t stop fighting even if you got what you wanted. Women, they are the color of the world. The color we need.

Empowering women is essential to the health and social development of families, communities and countries. When women are living safe, fulfilled and

I do think it's a seasonal trend that is also perfect for summer since ducklings are a thing that is mostly seen during that time. Whoever thought of this product is so creative, has fun ideas to share with everyone, and has this jiggly duck clip in their hair.

productive lives, they can reach their full potential. contributing their skills to the workforce and can raise happier and healthier children.

In this generation, create standards that the next generation could look up to. Women! Be a woman, a woman in a society where standards are created by men’s poisonous minds because if our ancestors can put up with it, so can we. Now or never. Be the standard. Jo March from Little Women once said, “Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they've got ambition, and they've got talent, as well as just beauty. I'm so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for.” and from what I heard, i think it is wonderful when women rage upon what they believe in and what they want to say all along. They are amazing and they are fantastic, people should know that.

This duck hair clip also contributes a great way to style in the fashion industry nowadays. As it gets more trendy, history-making is on its way to acknowledge the part of this clip in the hearts of fashion. You can typically use this to style up your outfits, especially during the summer. Having this as a hairdresser and having multiple designs of it, you can match it mostly in your summer fits. If you want to be goofy and jiggly, you can use this duck hair clip to get silly and have fun with your style. It may not be acceptable to others, but it's best to give way to small things like duck hair clips to proceed with making up the fashion.

QUACK! QUACK INDEED!

The duck clips were truly a sarcastic yet wholesome trend here in the Philippines. It makes Filipinos from different parts of the country united at some point, connecting them by posting about the 'duck lips'

social

connecting them by posting about the 'duck lips' trend on different social media sites. But not just on social media, but even in person as well, especially during Valentine's Day. Not only did it make an impact on entertaining people, but it also helped a lot of businesses to thrive with the rise of the duck clips. Although some people may have been confused about the rise of these duckies, we cannot deny that this is one of the wittiest and cutest trends that the Philippines ever had.

The Fashion here and there

Fashion Icons gave a way to this generation to revive once again a fashion trend, Coquette. This generation, girls like to explore things inside their closet and every trendsetter that influencers and fashion guru created, it became a wellknown clothes to dress up. In girl world, coquette symbolizes the innocence and well-being of a fashionista who knows how to flatter herself. Just a girl isn’t just that, it is something worth knowing. This kind of clothing design is unique and has a very good pattern. It may seem childish but no, it represents the deep meaning of being a girl in this world.

Coquette Aesthetic is a 2020s fashion trend that is mixed by sweet, romantic, and sometimes playful elements and focuses on femininity through the use of clothes with lace, flounces, pastel colors, and bows, often draws inspiration from historical periods like the Victorian era and the 1950s. This aesthetic became very popular because of Lana Del Rey’s studio album, “Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd?” It became a hit fashion trend and everyone goes around outside with a bow on their hair up till now.

The fashion that has been made distinctive by the iconic strap across the vamp, Mary Jane shoes, is the epitome of feminine chic style! Mary Jane shoes are one of fashion’s most timeless shoe styles, commonly recognized by the beauty of having the iconic strap across the vamp. They never truly go out of style and are continuously used over time. It comes in lots of different styles, like chunky soles, patent finishes, check prints, and even variations of the strap, to remain modern and fresh. There are flat Mary Jane shoes and ones that have chunky heels, mostly about 3–5 cm. Some known designer brands, like Charles and Keith and especially Dr. Martens, sell this type of shoe with a more upscale style as a version of their own brand. These doll shoes are making a comeback in the fashion industry, and it’s time to throw them back with added flair. Many girls have been purchasing Mary Jane shoes that they use for many purposes. Here in our school, Sto Nino National High School, you will see many girl students who have this as their school shoe, and many of them are using this as their top style for their own aesthetic. The style is traditionally worn with socks or tights, or completely without them. These Mary Janes can pair beautifully with a dress or a top - and - bottom combo for a pretty and casual look. Also, the durability of Mary Jane shoes is that you can wear them day-to-day and be the dolly fashion icon with them.

Know There’s A Tunnel Under

It's girly fashion, especially for someone who likes pink so much. Coquette expresses an angelic, princess-like look and a very lovely aesthetic that many girls love. Wearing soft, fluffy, pretty stuff concludes the style, which makes the person wearing it look just like a dream that came from a beautiful paradise. Every girl loves to shine, and there's a unique myth about showing femininity through various things. Girlhood is a desire that comes from innocence and something very special that is mostly fictive with the thought of the girl we made in our mind to happen in real life. This coquette trend will encourage the girls to dress up as girly as they want and look dreamy, which will satisfy their happiness and their safest core.

https:// www.russh. year -of-thegirl-infashion-2023/

It might seem too much for others, but who cares what other people think? You should walk on and show everyone that you're the girl that you've been wanting to be. A world with pearls, pale white, soft pink, and an elegant, divine, classic, and ambitious look is the dream that girls have been wanting to have, and here's this fashion trend to top that. As a girl who wears ribbons on my hair a lot, I find it really beautiful, and it expresses my femininity. com/

Coquette fashion is mainly wearing ribbons that you can design everywhere, which makes this trend really special. As Lana Del Rey said, "Ribbons in our hair and our eyes gleamed mean," it’s really lovely how girls can showcase feminism by wearing ribbons, and I'm proud that a girl can live their life just in the simplicity of things.

It's so delightful to see that this fashion trend brings women all around the world together. It brings out the femininity of girls, and how lovely it is to be a woman in this world. It somehow brings us back to the old times, wherein fashion in women was symbolized through the style of 'coquette' fashion, like the late queen of France, Marie Antoinette, who heavily inspired the fashion world with her pastel gowns with ribbons and bows. With the heavy influence of extraordinary women in fashion, it reminds us that no matter how cruel the world is to women, at least we have our Mary Jane's with knee-high socks, pink bows and dresses, and the cateye sharp enough to kill a man.

“Because Barbie can be anything, Women can be anything.”

The Barbie World must be every girl’s dream, with its dazzling parties, pretty pink and rainbow-colored costumes, and opportunities for women to do everything that men do in the real world. This is another phenomenal movie directed by Greta Gerwig, showcasing the struggles of womanhood in modern society and pursuing gender equity. With its recordbreaking box office success, it has opened people’s eyes to portray the reality of how women are treated in society, including the stereotypical roles assigned to women and men.

Greta Gerwig’s movie, Barbie, has been a game-changer for how society views women and their abilities. Featuring an outstanding cast, including Margot Robbie as the Stereotypical Barbie, Ryan Gosling as Ken, and America Ferrera as Gloria, along with many other actors and actresses who played various Barbies and Kens. The film portrays the reality of being a woman in modern times and how people still enforce gender stereotypes and standards on women’s capabilities in various fields. While the Barbie doll has received criticism for its portrayal of the ideal beauty through the male gaze, Mattel, the maker of the doll, has pointed out that Barbie has over 200 distinct careers, including some that defy gender norms in the real world. This alone signifies that women around the globe are capable of doing any kind of work in any field, just like men.

This movie brought women from all over the world together to celebrate the beauty of womanhood. If someone were to ask me my thoughts and feelings on this movie, I would describe it as

remarkably brilliant and powerful. It serves as a reminder to women that we are capable of achieving anything, despite the societal gender norms that have been enforced upon us. Women have been underestimated and criticized for far too long, stripped of their rights and inequality. For years, they have been fighting for their rights, raising their voices just to be heard, and battling against discrimination and sexism in society that have been going on for years. This movie is a powerful statement that inspires women to be confident, pursue their dreams, and break free from the chains of gender inequality.

Photoretrieved from: https://screenrant.com/barbie-ken-jobsexplained/ Moreover, the Barbie movie teaches us about the importance of self-discovery. Barbie emphasizes that it is normal to not know what you want in life and that learning and growing are a part of the process. Even ordinary people have the power to change the world. They do not need to possess extraordinary abilities to be valuable. This realization should encourage us to take action and inspire change. We must avoid carelessness because if we do not take action, the problems of the world will persist. Change is also inevitable, and many people fear it. In the movie, Barbie faces this fear as she embarks on a journey to the real world to discover why she is malfunctioning. This is a lesson that many young people today can benefit from, as they too struggle with the fear of change. It’s important to adapt and grow, or risk being lost in a constantly evolving world.

“I used to float, now I just fall down I used to know but I'm not sure now What I was made for What was I made for?“

Being a woman is incredibly hard. We have to live up to the expectations of this society. As Gloria’s monologue in the movie rightly points out, it’s literally impossible to be a woman with the double standards that exist in society. Women are expected to be perfect, to never show off, to never show fear, to never fail, and to never complain about anything that they have to endure. It’s frustrating to see women trying so hard to please everyone. Gloria’s monologue served as a battle cry for Barbie and women around the globe, empowering them to speak up and fight. America Ferrera won a People’s Choice Award for her outstanding and remarkable performance as Gloria in the movie.

Photoretrievedfrom:https://www.rollingstone.com/tvmovies/tv-movie-news/america-ferrera-reacts-youngwomen-reciting-barbie-monologue-1234939589/

Nevertheless, despite the double standards set upon women by society, we should not worry about pleasing others as we cannot meet everyone’s expectations. We must embrace our flaws, our true selves, despite all the unrealistic messages society sends us. We may not realize it yet, but someday we will. We will truly know what we are made for.

Look Closely Enough

To kill something so innocent isn’t enough for someone to be satisfied. Energy is the feeling that drives us into an unexpected realization. Seeing the world from someone’s perspective is entirely different from someone’s own perspective. We all have different lives and all of us don’t understand it completely because we’re not in somebody’s shoes. The shoes we have to fill, in order for everybody to be able to reflect. Life is cruel enough for us to let everything know in every little detail that we don’t even care or even recognize. Sometimes we wish that we are a bird, just flying high. But don’t mock a bird that can mock you back.

The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee shares with us the right realization that a society can’t even begin with. This novel tackles a bildungsroman, or coming-of-age story, and chronicles of the childhood of Scout and Jem Finch as their father Atticus defends a Black man falsely accused of rape.

In this novel, we can analyze that Atticus defends a Black man because he believes that he didn’t do it and that he was falsely accused of something so cruel. Racism and Hypocrisy was well shown inside the novel and it is something that the black community experiences during their time as slaves of the white community. So like Atticus Finch, our beliefs are what we stand for and when we have the chance to stand up for something, we have to be brave enough to face it even if there are people against it. The novel became very popular during the 1960s, a lot of schools handed out copies of this novel so that the students could read it and be able to reflect.

The novel is something so beautiful, ethereal, mystical and even mischievous. However, inside of the novel, as I read it, I felt something within me, an emotion I can’t even describe because of how greatly written it is. There are issues in society that were written and it was like an awareness to the readers, a lesson that people should be able to use.

The life lessons that stamped inside my head. I couldn’t even let go of the fact that the Black man, Tom Robinson was falsely accused of rape, died in the end. He was falsely accused and yet, he died. I believe that the white community thinks it’s “great” that he died even though that way of thinking is something I can’t even describe by words because thinking about it makes me want to burn. This is why the saying of “Actions speak louder than words” is commonly used, if we have to say something so important and we have to do it, we should do it because if we keep a promise, it should stay a promise and not something that could go down the drain. A promise starts when Atticus wants to defend Tom, he wants to defend Tom despite all of the threats from the white community and for me, that’s pretty brave and the words that he says, he shows it in his way. His way should be an eye opener because not all people could do something like that, his kids could look up to him as a role model, not just a fictional character but also people in real life like students who can learn something from it.

In Sto. Nino National High School, our 3rd Quarter lesson in English tackles literary criticism and I believe that the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird could use literary criticism so that students could also analyze and understand every part of the novel. Also, for them to wide up their vocabulary. As I have mentioned, there are life lessons that the novel can give us especially as students. Atticus advises Scout that he shouldn’t be poisoned by the girl’s words who acts like the victim even though she isn’t and that he shouldn’t

The Avatar Has Returned to Save the World

Water. Earth. Fire. Air.

What would you do, if saving the world was up to you? The four nations welcome us again with Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the infamous childhood favorite, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Ever since the premiere of the original series nearly two decades ago, it garnered critical acclaim which is why there is much to anticipate with this highly-anticipated, action-packed, live-action remake had fans waiting for their favorite

characters to be brought back to life. Especially the main characters; Aang, Katara, and Sokka. However, less than a month since it was released, people have had varying opinions about the series.

Starring in the series is an impressive line of mostly Asian and Indigenous actors. Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Maria Zhang as Suki, Paul SunHyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae

Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. Although the show’s visuals and the presence of Asian and Indigenous actors bring an element of accuracy to the series, critics acclaim that many of the character portrayal in the series lack the depth and emotion needed to truly convey the horrors of war, as showcased in the original series. The series takes its characters to a number of different locations, which is why it makes sense that Netflix would reduce expenses by digitally producing more imaginative places. Critics have said it looked more like a Netflix-branded liveaction cartoon, with the overuse of unnatural lighting and many scenes where things in the background move too quickly. It would have been better suited by using more practical effects.

Nevertheless, despite the criticism that the series has received, comparing it to the original animated series, it still manages to capture enough of the

judge the Black man, Tom so easily because he should be able to think critically and not judge easily especially if he doesn’t know the feeling of being accused of something so unholy. With our world more divided than ever, Atticus’s words remind us to reach out to others, to try and see the world from their perspective before passing judgment. Another lesson that a student could learn is that Atticus is teaching Scout that responding to violence with more violence never achieves anything: two wrongs don’t make a right. And that the only way to stop a bully (or an internet troll) is to let what they say slide over you. Their only aim is to get a reaction, so patience and restraint are your greatest allies.

I conducted an interview with my fellow Sto. Ninian and Feature Writer, Feliz Christine Ombrog. I asked “What did you learn after you read the novel?” and she said, “Justice isn’t for the poor and it also won’t apply to colored people. The justice system is rigged enough to not allow these kinds of people to be given justice and prove them innocent from the crime that they are accused of. However, because of this novel, I learned that we can change this rigged system and fight for what’s right.” I asked her for the second time that if she were given the chance to know more about a certain person, what would be the ways to do that and she said that she has to know them first. Know their story, their background and their personality in order for her to be able to understand them and enable her to communicate with them well. Lastly, “If your friend is accused of something, would you be brave enough to stand up for

significance to the original one to make this retelling worth watching. The series reminds us that kindness and empathy have greater impacts than hate and cruelty. Despite the war, there are continuous acts of kindness shared by ordinary people. It also highlights the importance of respecting different cultures and the value of friendships, as the series takes us on a journey around the world and celebrates diversity. And most importantly, you don’t have to be special to be important. In the series, every other person possesses special abilities, but how about those who do not? Folks with no special abilities?

There are non-bending fighters who played an important role to the Avatar’s success. It signifies that your place in this world is important, whether you have special abilities or not. There is always a place for you to demonstrate your unique skills.

him/her?” “Of course. I wouldn’t even think about it otherwise. I would stand up for them and help them until they are proven innocent. However, if the accusations turned out to be true, I won’t be able to help them and they should own up to their own mistakes,” she said.

Look closely, maybe you will have the real thing up their sleeves. Don’t just do it easily if you don’t want to be judged as well. Be the bigger person. Empathy can save you sometime from the justice you deserved completely. Never argue if they don’t have ears to understand completely what you have to say. Never accuse someone for you to be heard and defended because you never really know what that person you accused of going through. Going through a rough patch, you need a shoulder to cry on. A friend that’s not really a friend that stepped up to give their shoulder for you to cry on is way different because you never really expected that a stranger would do that for you. Learn and reflect. Look close enough for you to hear the justice that is supposed to be served. Don’t be late especially if the person died knowing that people around him/her never really understood what happened. Look! Look! Look! There is only one of you, and you were made to be just that, unapologetically you.

reminding us of our childhood. It takes us back to when we were kids, watching this series on the television all afternoon. And with this new live-action series, young adults, specifically students, are more interested in watching this since they hop on trends more often. Watching this series may teach students of young age important lessons regarding life, the importance of keeping bonds with friends, and the value of respect. Avatar: The Last Airbender is a remarkable show that transcends boundaries of being just a children’s animated show turned into a live-action series.

This live-action series may not have been perfectly made, it did have some flaws, yet it still conveyed the message that the original animation had showcased. Moreover, it succeeded and ranked No. 1 in 76 countries and top 10 in 92. This alone shows that the series was a remarkable hit, and still created a great impact as it did almost two decades ago.

Truly, Avatar: The Last Airbender will always be in history books.

CIRCUMSTANCE BETWEEN LIFE AND VAPE

“The healthiest option is not to smoke or vape. So, if you are vaping to quit smoking, you should aim to eventually stop vaping too.”

What is Vaping? Does it ruin someone’s life? What’s the risk of it? Why do they vape when they know it’s just the same as cigarettes? Does it have to be this way? A lot of questions are full of wander. “Life comes first”, that’s what they said but it’s different when it comes to those people who do this.

Schools and organizations have to deal with people and teenagers who have done it. If you are high, why would you choose to be high by vaping or smoking if you can fly high by studying hard and be able to accomplish something. It’s hard to accept that your schoolmate does something so terrible.

Vape or cigarette, there’s no way of saying it but don’t do it. If you are lucky enough to survive by quitting vaping and smoking, then you are lucky enough to be able to reflect in life. Vape? Traumas and depression may be the cause of it but let’s dig deep.

Vaping is an electronic cigarette which can inhale an aerosol or mist. Vape has advantages to some others but mostly, people would look at the risk factor of it. The advantages of vape are high nicotine concentration, no smokey odors, different flavors unlike cigarettes, etc. The advantages that were mentioned, they really can’t convince people to buy a vape even if it’s affordable, especially since normal cigarettes are cheaper, unlike vape. Even though it has a primary benefit, there’s always a risk factor when it comes to our health, specifically to our respiratory system. The risk factor of vape in our respiratory system is that it produces a number of dangerous chemicals like acrolein, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. These aldehydes can cause lung disease, as well as cardiovascular (heart) disease. Also, propylene glycol, which is toxic to human cells. If you are vaping, it is better to quit early than quitting when you realize you’re too late.

Sto. Nino National High School, a person whose part of the school organization, Barkada Kontra Droga saw a group of guys on the 4th floor in SHS Building using vape near the stairway.

“There were at least 3 to 5 people, it was clear to my eyes that there was smoke,” in this statement, there are students who really go through this way even if they’re at school. They probably wouldn’t care if they got caught or maybe one of them was influenced because of a “friend”. Another set of cases of vape in the school year 2023-2024 that BKD or Barkada Kontra Droga from SNNHS handle and monitor every week, on January 11, 2023, last year from grade 9.

You wouldn’t even think that this young can vape, right? On January 15, 2024, BKD caught a grade 9 student vaping. On February 8, 2024, they caught another student from grade 10 and 11. On February 12, 2024 from grade 9 also. In this generation, we can’t help but think of what they were thinking when they got caught. The reason why there are cases of vaping in schools is because they lack guidance and morals. I believe that as a student, when I know what’s wrong with a specific thing, I wouldn’t even bother to do it because I know what’s right. In education, we should give at least a time where students can process their minds peacefully.

Vaping is another way to disappoint the parents. I say we should step up and be a bigger man. There are consequences of every action we take. We have to at least think about what our decisions are going to be before doing it. It’s such a sad thing that teenagers my age are vaping to cope with their problems; they need parental guidance. Parents should know and ask their child what’s wrong. Try to let things open, teenagers are scared to open up when it comes to their problems because they’re scared that maybe they wouldn’t be heard. Vaping is such a serious matter and we should take action. We shouldn’t let things go away so easily, we should challenge yourself-up and achieve justice for those teenagers who need proper medical care. Awareness should be able to spread to every corner of the world. Inhale good and exhale the bad. The recent list of students vaping this year is that on February 20, BKD caught a student from Grade 10 vaping inside the comfort room. Also, on February 27, they caught a grade 8 student vaping as well.

So I conducted an interview with the Vice President of Barkada Kontra Droga, Carlina Mae Balane. I asked her, “As BKD Vice President, what do you feel whenever you catch your fellow Sto. Niñians vaping?” “Well, I feel so disappointed because our organization is inspecting every day in the whole campus just to make sure that students are not doing such kinds of things and we also had a symposium where we teach Sto. Niñians about what is the bad causes of vaping, cigarettes, alcohol and even drugs and how does it affects their health and daily lives so I am very disappointed by it, it seems like I failed as a leader by that.” I also asked her what she would do for them to stop the addiction and she said that her and her organization will continue to raise awareness to students and the barangay rather than the possible outcomes of using prohibited products. Being a leader knows what’s right and being able to set direction and help themselves and others to do the right thing to move forward. To do this they create an inspiring vision, then motivate and inspire others to achieve it.

We should create an organization where dozens of teenagers will attend seminars and learn things correctly. Separate the young ones from the dangerous risk of health. Stop vaping! Avoid any harmful circumstance, we’re talking about a life. Advocate. Reflect. Standard. Health. Words that can help teenagers, at least what people can. Vaping is what can end lives. Open your minds people because there are certain people who suffer way more than we expected. It’s hard enough to hear it but it’s way more hard when you see it.

An app that helps you write, check your grammar, and paraphrase no matter what you're working on in your browser is what we call Grammarly. This app also offers great comprehensive feedback on spelling, punctuation, clarity, and writing style that you can use with the help of AI technology. As they say, Grammarly is more than just a proofreader. It's a tool that uses generative AI capabilities to produce instant-crafted ideas that do most of your writing.

Grammarly is a Ukrainefounded company headquartered in San Francisco, launched by its original authors, Alex Shevchenko, Max Lytvyn, and Dmytro Lider. It was released on July 1, 2009, and it is available on a website that you can access online by just typing grammarly.com. Using Grammarly, advanced spelling checkers and grammar checkers go far beyond the built-in tools of word processors. It can detect and commonly confuse words used in the wrong context, like “affect” and “effect.”

In addition, it can fix complex grammar and punctuation issues like sentence fragments, comma splices, and subject-verb disagreement. But good writing is about much more than just grammar and spelling; it's more about the ideas and the concept that you are writing. That’s why a lot of people use Grammarly to streamline sentences that are likely to confuse readers. It also suggests word choice improvements to help keep readers engaged and helps to adjust the tone to ensure what's intended. This app is mostly targeted at students, especially for their projects and research activities, as many of them acknowledge using Grammarly to help them.

In reviewing the overall use of Grammarly by people, there are pros and cons to using it. Since AI technology has begun to take over many sites, it's becoming unhealthy that even in terms of writing, there is an app that changes the perspective of how important writing really is.

It definitely helps and enhances your own writing, but at the same time, people overuse it and just let the app control the whole idea of what you're going to write, so that they can just chill and not use their minds anymore as this app can do everything with high expectations. As you can see, it's not also doing justice in the writing industry. There’s no way to tell in advance whether you’ll find Grammarly worth having or if that's even helpful. Because if you’re already a skilled writer, Grammarly can catch trivial errors you might be too impatient to see, and you may want to consider that having your own knowledge and critique in writing can make much worth a try. If you write anything above high schoollevel prose, however, Grammarly is likely to get in your way since they target students who are not that good at writing. That's why it’s not really natural to use this because you'll get suggestions to say something different from what you want to say, suggestions that change the emphasis of a sentence to something you don’t want, or both.

Fortunately, Grammarly lets you fine-tune the kinds of suggestions it makes. There are still a lot of doubtful concerns about this app, even though it can be useful in a dozen ways. It's not necessary to use it every time. Many people who have tried this have found enthusiastic and sincere recommendations for it online. Grammarly is mostly reliable, but the realness of your own work is not there anymore. If most students will use grammar for their schoolwork every time, is learning writing styles in school still useful? That's why this app has advantages and disadvantages.

In this modernized generation, it expands a lot in the education system, but is it really good to acknowledge every AI capability in working on it instead of the students’ own work? That is the real demand that needs a solution. Especially when it comes to research, essays, and poems, many students don't want to think of their own and just use the advantage of apps like Grammarly that help them achieve their works.

But if you look through it, it doesn't really embrace the idea of the user since it's not their own idea anymore, and they don't use their own knowledge about writing since they think that using an AI would just solve everything. It's hard to tolerate using the app Grammarly, as it makes the students depend on the work of technology rather than their own ideas.

As a student myself, I really don't agree with using this app, mostly for activities that require the perspective of your own ideas and reflections about yourself in terms of writing. Because if we always let this app manage to do that rather than ourselves, where do all the learnings we had in school go, and do we still get ideas in our minds to express ourselves through writing?

That's why teachers provide us with some works where we can express our own thoughts and words in the context we should understand and give expression of our own, but they also observe that some students pass their works that are so well written that it is almost unbelievable that they write them on their own, and it's because of apps like Grammarly. This app definitely saves us time and rests on writing a whole paragraph on a topic, but we overuse it and just rely on it every time.

In conclusion, there are some ways we can use Grammarly in a good way. When we know how to handle our boundaries when using AI technology, we can have a great experience exploring its systems. There's nothing wrong with using this app since its intention is to help and improve the writing style you want, which can be worthwhile. But I do believe that it feels more enthusiastic and appreciated if we finish our writing that we made and think of it on our own without any help from other things. Grammarly can be worth it if we use it in the right way and as a guide to create our writeups, but it's much more worth it if we craft our writing using the knowledge we have.

Youth’s Excessive Amount of Screen Time

The excessive amount of screen time by young individuals is a relevant topic that has been talked about countless times, it tells about different aspects of why this topic is somewhat considered an issue for young individuals. The excessive amount of screen media towards the youth is a growing concern in today's time, with how fast technology evolves with mobile phones, computers, and interactive screens that are mostly the interest of young individuals. It showcases the huge media exposure and both its positive and negative impact on the youth.

The use of screen media plays a part in improvements in the academic performance and learning of a young child’s mind. Electronic devices have been considered as a revolutionized way of learning, introducing a fast way of communication, and a more accessible way of getting information.

For example, the essential quality of videos and their content plays a crucial role in a person's language development. Schools also use screen media as an educational tool for teaching making it a faster and equitable way of learning. However, this puts a disadvantage on people who are living in poverty. Electronic Devices are known to be pricey or expensive, and although screen media can help a person's education, not all people can afford to have such things.

Despite the fact that screen media can help in certain aspects like education, it also has its downsides. The excessive use of screen media can affect the growth development of a young child in terms of how much they’re exposed to the screens. When it comes to heavy reliance on screen media, there is no exception of age whether it is a fully grown adult, teenagers, children, elderlies, and even toddlers are exposed to and rely on screen media. The youth generally has a heavy reliance on screen media, this can affect many aspects of how they’ll live and the life ahead of them. A wide range of issues can occur with excessive amounts of screen time for youth. Physical Health Issues, too much screen time usage can lead to a poor lifestyle like obesity, chronic neck and back problems, and even chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular issues. A study conducted by the University of Eastern Finland said that heart damage may occur especially in young people due to a sedentary lifestyle where it tells the importance of children and adolescents engaging in physical activity to reduce cardiovascular issues or even damage. Excessive amount of screen time can also reduce the physical interactions of young individuals.

Exploring Loneliness Among Filipino Teens

In the Philippines, the issue of teenage loneliness warrants significant attention as well as concerted efforts to address its root causes and consequences. Although family and community relations have great significance in the country, a concerning majority of Filipino teenagers feel feelings of alienation and separation. The prevalence of loneliness is highlighted by the fact that more than 60% of Filipino youths’ report having experienced it frequently or on occasion, based on recent data from the National Youth Commission.

The high rate of teenage loneliness in the Philippines emphasizes the urgent need for intervention and support systems tailored to the nation's specific cultural and social environment. Adolescents who experience loneliness may experience serious effects to their general and mental health. Studies show that extended periods of loneliness are associated with higher rates of anxiety, sadness, and low selfesteem in teenagers, which emphasizes how important it is to deal with this problem as soon as possible.

Effects on Mental Health, the vast amount of usage of screen time can affect the Mental Health of a well-being. This can happen due to cyberbullying and exposure to negative content on social and screen media. The occurrence of events like this can lead to Mental Health Disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, and even Eating Disorders. Sleeping Problems, the huge amount of screen time use can disrupt sleeping patterns due to blue light emitted by electronic devices, this can cause a problem with the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle, with a long exposure to screen time can also release dopamine in the brain, that can result into sleeping problems. Effects on Academic Performance, although screen media can improve the academic performance of a learner, it can also be the reason for poor academic performance, where too much use of screen time can serve as a distraction from the time spent on academics, this can lead to less productivity of a student.

All in all, Youths' Excessive Amount of Screen Time has both positive and negative impacts on different and certain aspects of a young individual's life. It tells how screen time can improve one’s mind but too much of it can lead to different kinds of issues. It is important to address this topic, especially with problems inside it, especially in today’s modern society where technology is everywhere. Having a knowledge of the impact on each issue of excessive amount of screen time that are Physical Health Issues, Effects on Mental Health, Sleeping Problems, and Effects on Academic Performance. Each person is responsible for the proper use of screen media, especially grown adults.

They must teach young individuals how they should be responsible for the usage of screen time, and they should set an example to the young people behind them. Everyone must know the benefits and consequences of screen media especially the youth because their well-being and development are important and should be the priority, they must understand the potential risk of the vast amount of screen time usage, and groups of people can work together to reduce the negative effects of excessive screen time usage and encourage a much healthier and balanced lifestyle not just for the youth but for everyone.

These experiences of loneliness among many people demonstrate how the feeling defies simple characterization — it’s more than social disconnection. That complexity is seen in cultures worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, for instance, many respondents attributed their loneliness to several factors that left them feeling disconnected. Teenage loneliness must be handled with an extensive and multifaceted approach. Collaboration throughout a variety of organizations is necessary for this, including politicians, educators, parents, healthcare providers, and leaders in the community. Teenage loneliness can be mostly prevented through placing into action proven strategies which foster resilience, grow supportive relationships, and encourage social-emotional learning.

In addition, communitybased programs that offer chances for teenagers to volunteer, interact with peers, and take part in meaningful activities may serve as important interventions towards loneliness. Teenagers in the Philippines can be given the resilience and confidence needed to face the challenges of puberty by fostering inclusive environments which put a high value on empathy, acceptance, and support.

In conclusion, addressing the issue of teenage loneliness in the Philippines requires a collective effort from all parts of society. By prioritizing the emotional well-being of Filipino Teenagers and fostering environments that create belonging and connection among them, we can work towards building a brighter and more emotionally nourishing future for the youth of the nation.

WHENMOLD TURNSINTO GOLD

What is billiards? Why is it popular nowadays? Billiards is a sport played on a rectangular table with pockets, small numbered balls and a long stick, called a cue. Billiards was first invented during the 15th century in Northern Europe. The sport has been popular here in the Philippines since before World War II. The golden period of billiards in the country started when Filipino Efren “Bata” Reyes beat Taiwan’s Chang Hao-Ping at the World Pool Association in 1999. These days, the sport is slowly gaining its popularity back mainly because of the influence from different social media platforms such as Facebook and Tiktok.

score of 25-20. As KALUMPANG held onto their victory.

You can feel the pressure and excitement while watching the game. The first set was led by Malanday National High School wherein the players were determined to win but the tables suddenly changed when Kalumpang National High School finally got up and won the first set.

Moving on to the second set where the streak of Kalumpang was still there while Malanday was thriving and trying their best just to get back the points. In the end it was Kalumpang who won, however both teams tried

When we talk about billiards, Sto. Niño National High School is the most talked about at the moment. But why is that? Well, Rhian Fajardo, a grade 11 student from Sto. Niño showed her accuracy in playing billiards against Kalumpang as she took the gold medal in the District meet with a category of Nine ball women’s Division in a race to 5 match. The match was held at the Ruins bar and cafe, Marikina last March 2, 2024, Saturday. Despite the lack of experience in competitions, Fajardo still managed to surpass her opponents. In 9-ball, the cue ball must strike the lowest-numbered ball on the table first, but it doesn’t need to be pocketed in numerical order. The player will remain on the table if she potted any numbered ball on a legal shot and continues until she misses or commits a foul. The player who will put the 9-ball first wins the game. The winner of the match will proceed to the Division level to represent their respective schools. In the beginning, Kalumpang led the first half of the match but Fajardo immediately turned the tables, tying the match to 4-4 and finishing it up with the final score of 5-4.

their best and left the court stunned with their intense game and talents.

After the game we interviewed a player who played in the match. First is a member from the Malanday National High School Volleyball team. We've interviewed Mr. Jacob Delfin, who showed accuracy and passion in playing volleyball. Who played as a “Opposite Spiker”. We’ve asked him a few questions about the game like “What did you feel during the game? And “Did you feel any pressure while playing?” I asked “I felt a little bit nervous but excited at the same time because I was able to play and you know that feeling when you're in court where people cheer you even though you didn't score. I just feel a little bit disappointed because me and my team were on the verge of winning in the first set but the tables suddenly turned. But it's okay because there's always room for improvement and we'll make sure that we will get it next time. I feel proud not only for myself but for

You can feel the pressure on both players as the match reached the do or die round. Fajardo was one ball away from getting the victory when she committed a foul. I also had interest in coaching billiards because somehow, I have knowledge about it since I used to play the game during my college days when we had free time.” He stated. And for those Sto. Niñians who want to be a part of the team and represent the school in future competitions, Mr. Suelto said that “The qualities that we are looking for in a player is someone who is smart, good in making strategies, has determination and can balance both career and studies -

Being good in the game while neglecting your academic responsibilities is a big NO for me.” Students often go to billiard centers after school and forget their tasks at home and school nowadays. Billiards is a fun sport to play with your friends and families. There’s nothing wrong with playing billiards when you know your limitations and priorities, that’s why you must always remember to balance your hobbies and responsibilities.
