I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these. institutions.

Service learning is extremely important for students to become a more successful member of society because it teaches them essential life skills and facilitates the understanding of how the real-world issues relate to their education in school. It not only helps students to develop critical thinking abilities through the management of their time and resources, but it also brings the sense of appreciation toward the uniqueness and diversity in their community. This widens the spectrum of the way they see the world and enables them to think creatively to find solutions on what they can do to promote peace in their community. Furthermore, the action of serving others builds the character of the student because the incorporation of their academic knowledge into analyzing the more prevalent issues helps to process more information and logistics.
Community service is crucial in student life because it gives a wide spectrum of how society functions. The dedication and value of work increase the potential of the students to achieve many great things during or after high school. In order to succeed, students must step outside of their comfort zone in order to succeed in the real world instead of just sitting in class and only doing what the teacher tells them to do. Whether the volunteer work is structured, unstructured, voluntary, or required, civic engagement is certainly an important part of the high school experience.
Services give students the opportunity to be a more active member of society because it accompanies the student education, as well as the practice of humanity and communication skills. Therefore, it is an important part of the college admission process because the common goal is to build a more efficient society in the world. It generates empathy into the work of helping others, and it connects the moral values into actions. On top of that, engagement in community helps to think critically and comprehend the society in a more effective manner.
There are many types of volunteering, and each of them serves different purposes. Statistics show that many people are more focused on helping others achieve the essential wellness in life such as defense against hunger and protection of their health. The continuation of volunteerism to aid humanity in the world proves the importance of the involvement. Even young children may also volunteer, and high school students are able to make a greater impact in the community to help fight social issues. In order to bring more positive changes to different aspects in the world, more volunteers are needed.
I'm Esther and I plan on running for president of Key Club next year. I want to run for President of Key Club because I believe in the values that Key Club upholds. Furthermore, I am able to lead the organization effectively as a past officer. I write six monthly reports for Key Club and hold many leadership positions at Allen High School. I am the historian of Dear Asian Youth, the social media manager of Doctors Without Borders, and the project manager of Red Cross Eagles. In the past, I have been the historian of the Student Council and the public relations manager of HOSA. With the skills I gained as experience in these positions, I believe I will be able to lead Key Club in an effective, productive manner. I enjoy drawing, crocheting, and playing the piano as hobbies. I have a passion for healthcare and most of all, my education. My diverse passions make it easy to connect to a variety of people in Key Club. I have been in Key Club all my years of high school, from a regular member to a Service Project Committee member, to an officer on the board. I fully understand what it means to be in Key Club through my various experiences in volunteering.
Next year, I have many plans for Key Club. Firstly, I will transition our communication system to Band. That way, we can increase the engagement of the Key Club members with the services. That will also rid the problem of our several Remind message channels. I also plan to further advertise our article writing services. This way, the overall workload of the editor will be reduced. Lastly, I hope to better distribute the work between board members. From my perspective, there isn't a clear form of communication of the services between the officers, making it hard to document these services at the end of the month and distribute them among the officers. As president, I will create a system to manage this issue. My favorite projects this year were the candy sleigh service and concessions, which I would be glad to continue to do next year.
I am incredibly thankful to have been able to serve our community as a Key Club Officer this year, and I hope to continue to do so next year.
