MEN'S GOLF Men’s golf took part in 10 events during the season, capturing a pair of tournament titles and turning in five runner-up performances. The team’s first win came at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Oct. 16-17, where sophomore Gavin Dugas fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish in a second-place tie with a 1-under 143 for the tournament. The Penmen then won their second straight NEIGA Championship a week later (Oct. 23-24), with sophomore Matt Paradis grabbing a share of individual medalist honors with a 2-over 74 in the final round that left him with a two-day score of 152. The team finished second at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational (Sept. 11-12), the Quechee Division II Challenge (Sept. 19-20) and the Northeast-10 Championship (Oct. 2-3) in the fall. The team fell one stroke short of repeating as NE10 Champions, with sophomore Etienne Bourgoin carding a pair of even-par rounds to finish as the individual runner-up, just four strokes back. Senior John Clancy was third with a 145 and Paradis placed eighth with a 147. The Penmen submitted their best performance of the spring at the Barton Intercollegiate on March 13-14, where they again were the runner-up. Paradis carded a pair of 2-under 70s for a three-round total of 214, which put him second and just three strokes back of the individual medalist. Junior Sam Riemer, who joined the team for the second semester, fired a tournament-best 68 on the final day. The team qualified for the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional (May 8-10) for the seventh time, including the fourth straight year, and was hoping to advance to its second straight NCAA National Championship. It would not be in the cards, however, as it finished 18th at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. Paradis, who turned in an even-par 72 on day one, wrapped the tournament with a 1-over 73 as he finished tied for fifth with a three-round total of 220. Riemer posted the best score of the second round with a 1-under 71. Paradis, who was named a GCAA PING East All-Region Team selection, averaged a team-best 73.9 across 22 rounds, with his opening-round 66 at the Franklin Pierce Invitational coming as his performance of the season. Dugas, who competed in six events in the fall, averaged a 75.4, with his 68 at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational serving as his best 18 holes. Riemer averaged 77.8 in his four spring events and matched Dugas’ 68 as his best round at the Barton Intercollegiate.
